I have three words to say: BUY A HONDA.

I have a 94 olds achieva and so far the car is running great... i bought it used and only problem that I have been having is a constant water leak... no clue how the water is getting into the car... not sure if it is a usual problem, but the back floors are soaked with water after it rains, I have only found one leak for sure coming through the firewall, but the back one I have no clue... after a good rainfall I can see at least an inch of water back there. If you have any clue on where the water comes in please post.

I bought my 93 achieva S coup new in 92. I ordered it loaded with a 3300 V6 automatic. It's my wifes car and over the first 10 years, I've done all the routine maintenance, replaced the water pump and alternator, serpentine belt and the usual maintenance stuff. Now I am having problems with the power locks, passenger power window controls and drivers window regulator. So, in the past 12 years this car has cost me $1500 in repairs. Now, it only has about 46k miles on it, and like I said its moms grocery getter. Personally, I think all front wheel drive cars suck. It's also starting to fall apart with age. Gonna sell it when she hits 50k miles. It'll make some kid a great first car.

I have owned my 94 Achieva sc for about 3 years now, and it has been a great all around car, handles nicely, gets up to speeds of 180 km/h in no time at all before the rev limiter kicks in, the only problem is the driver side window, the motor needs replacing, but other than that, its been a great car, I always hear people complain about these cars, but I guess I just came across a good one.

I have a 96 Olds achieva and I am having the security light problem as well. After I drive the car for a month it starts to happen. It turns over and then stops running. Sometimes it will fix itself the next morning, sometimes I will have to get it towed to the dealership so they can be confused and wait for it to fix itself.

There has to be something wrong with the computer inside the thing. I'm positive it isn't anything else. If anyone has found a way to disable the security system please let me know. This has frustrated me more than you know.

What everyone needs to understand here:

I have a 1996 Oldsmobile Achieva SC 2.4L Twin cam 5 speed manual.

All brakes wear and need to be changed. If your rotors warped, you're braking too hard.

All water pumps will fail between 60000 and 100000, it's a given.

All alternators might go before 100000.

The AC will need to be recharged.

These are items you cannot talk bad about because it is with everything.

My car now has 120000 miles on it, and yes I put a lot of money into it, but I get out even more. It's so reliable and has never once broke down or not started. If anything did go wrong, I could catch it in time to fix it. You can't expect to get everything for nothing.

I have owned my 1997 Oldsmobile Achieva for 5 years now. It has 103,000 miles on it. It has been a real reliable car.

I just recently have had some cooling issues - water pump, heater core and a crack in radiator. I think it is a great car, and I have owned a lot of makes and models, they all have their problems, but a little maintenance can prevent most of the problems I have seen here.

I bought a 93 Olds Achieva used 3 months ago and have had nothing but problems. Lately I've been having problems starting it. At first it was acting like it wasn't getting gas. It would turn over and chug like it was running out of gas then quit on me. I replaced the fuel filter and it was fine for a day, but the next day I couldn't even get it to turn over. I took it to the shop and they couldn't find anything wrong. I picked it up, and that same day had to have it towed AGAIN. Right now it's in the shop for the second time and they still can't find anything! It seems a lot of people have had problems with their Achievas not starting--any solutions??? There is a new computer in the thing so I don't think it's anything with that. Please help!
