1996 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme 4 door 3.1 liter V6 from North America

Summary:

I love this car, I have owned 3 different years, it's great

Faults:

I have not had any problems with this vehicle so far.

I am expecting the A/C compressor clutch to go soon.

There is a quirk in the rear passenger power window, it rolls up all of the way when you press the button occasionally. Otherwise the car has no problems.

General Comments:

The car is good on gas and it has excellent pick-up.

It handles very well in all types of weather.

The interior is very comfortable, everything is situated perfectly.

Intake Gasket replaced at 55000 miles.

Heater Core replaced at 55000 miles.

General Comments:

This car is amazing.

Very fast car, recently beating a 2000 Civic on a country road.

This car drives very smoothly.

Very quiet car. After it warms up you can barely tell that its running.

Still gets close to 16 mpg at 75000 miles.

1996 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supeme SL III 3.1 V6 from North America

Summary:

It is a good bargain and buy one if you can find one at a reasonable price

Faults:

I had the rear brake caliper not release the emergency brake all the way when I first bought the car. I had to purchase an new brake caliper.

I have had to replace the alternator and battery because the car has twice decded to act like it has a dead battery, but later on starts up just fine.

Some of the interior has worn out a little excessively such as the power window button, etc.

General Comments:

The V6 is more powerful than in my last car and is responsive when you need it to be.

The car rides extremely smooth and handles like a dream.

The car is exceptionally quiet as well. After it has warmed up, you can hardly tell it is running.

1996 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme from North America

Summary:

The tires lasted longer than the fuel injectors

Faults:

Fuel pump failure. Replaced by used car dealer within 40 days of purchase.

Wiper motor belt failure, had to be replaced.

Vehicle was recalled for a problem with the air bags. Dealer replaced the bag, was none too pleasant about the work.

#5 and #6 Fuel Injectors failed and had to be replaced at 58,848 miles.

Right rear harness failed and had to be replaced.

807 Loose trim panel created squealing sound - had to be repaired/replaced.

#2 Fuel Injector failed and had to be replaced at 65,572 miles.

Now at 68,600 miles and will be in the shop again for what seems to be another Fuel Injector gone bad.

General Comments:

The car still looks like new and is very comfortable.

Comfort is certainly a big plus while I sit in it waiting for the tow truck to get me to the repair shop for yet another highly expensive fuel injector failure.

1996 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme SE 3.1L from North America

Summary:

Great Luxury Vehicle

Faults:

I had to replace the intake manifold gaskets because of an anti-freeze leak. I also replaced the valve cover gaskets, throttle body gasket, thermostat, and intake gaskets, but that was just because I took all these parts off to get to the intake. This was at 86,000 miles. I also replaced the power antenna, but other than that I love this car because it is a comfortable car and runs real quiet.

General Comments:

I've had this car for about 21 and a half, and I have no complaints about it except I wish it had a little more power.

I must give an unhappy laugh. I also had to replace the intake gasket on my Cutlass that caused an antifreeze leak. I left the repair shop and had to take the car back because it was pretty much completely dead by the time I had driven a couple of miles! Great car before that...

1996 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme 3.1 litre from North America

Summary:

Good, reliable and affordable transportation

Faults:

The rear brake rotors had to be replaced at 15000 km. Surfaces of the rotors looked like they had been scooped out by a miniature ice cream scoop.

Rear brake pads and rotors changed again at 50000 km.

Rear brake rotors, and calipers replaced at 120000 km.

Rear brake pads and rotors replaced at 140000 km. Do you see a pattern here?

Alternator replaced (not under warranty) at 130000 km.

Rear door window switch inoperative.

Fog lamps are impossible to keep water tight resulting in the bulb life extending to the first good rain storm.

General Comments:

A good, fast sporty car which despite the rear brakes and alternator proved to be good value for the money.

It has a good comfortable ride, but retains sure footed contact with the road.

The 3.1 L engine is fairly good on gas.
