"The more mileage the more issues!"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Crank sensor had to be replaced.

Tie rods had to be replaced.

Passenger door does get stuck at times.

General comments?

I have been satisfied with the driving performance on my 2000 olds intrigue. I unfortunately did have to have the crank sensor replaced since my car was turning off 10 minutes or so after driving it in the winter. It also had to have the tie rods replaced fortunately covered thru the extended warranty. I now have an issue with some noise under my passengers seat when I'm driving I have to take it into the dealer to check what the problem is. I am having another issue now my car is turning off sporaticly when I'm driving for no apparent reason. My serive engine light comes on and my wheels lock it takes a few minutes and it will turn back on. I did take it to the dealer, but they claimed nothing is wrongs. Its been 5 days since I took it in and today it turned off again this time it turned off for about 20 minutes before being able to turn on. I am extremely concerned that my car will just die out on the expressway. Now I have to schedule another appointment with the dealer to find out what the problem is. I do recommend the extended warranty for anyone with this vehicle so far all I've had to pay is a 25.00 deductible all repairs have been covered. If anyone has had this issue with their 2000 olds intrigue please comment back and let me know your experience.

I own a 2001 Intrigue and for about 20,000 miles I had the same problem with the car effectively turning off as though the ignition switch was turned off. I was about to replace the ignition switch in a couple of days, when I went to a friend to have him check the computer to see if it was showing any diagnostic problems. I was told that if the SERVICE ENGINE light was not on, that nothing would show up. After explaining my problem, I was advised that it could be a bad ground connection somewhere. I immediately took the car home and checked the ground connection (where the negative post is grounded) just under the battery at the chassis and found it slightly loose. I cleaned the terminal off thoroughly and re-tightened the bolt and have not had a problem since! I found out that this is also the ground for the on board computer and is a critical ground connection.

Hope this helps and that your problem is the same as the one I had.

Best wishes...

I own a Oldsmobile Intrigue 2000 and my car has been giving me some problems. Problems like a weird noise coming out of the right side when I am in the highway, the car sometimes turns OFF, If it has less than 1/4 of a tank my car will be acting up (DOING AS A STICK SHIFT WHEN YOU DO A BAD GEAR MOVE), when I turn it on and I'm not stepping the gas pedal the car will turn off. These kind of problems are also appearing in my cousins car who has an Oldsmobile Intrigue 2000 also.

My car goes crazy sometimes (by just moving it and having the brake up to the maximum the car wants to keep moving.

I've called the Oldsmobile (at least what it used to be) and the GM and they just tell me that that is one of the problems that this kind of cars have, and that there is nothing that they could do about it. I didn't think that is a good comment for a person who owns a car that is being giving problems and that is upset about it.

Well that was all my comment

I also have a 2000 Intrigue that has been GREAT since we purchased the car. However, we have approximately 66K miles on it and ever now and then the Service Engine Light comes on. I took it to the dealer and they stated it was the PVC valve, they replaced it and it was fine. So, every time the light would come on I would replace the PVC and the light would turn off. Just recently, the light came on and I changed the PVC as always and it has not turned off. I took the car to Autozone to check the code and they stated it was the Camshaft Position Sensor code. The car sometimes starts and other times after the first attempt I have to press on the gas wait a few seconds then it will turn on. Unforturnately, I find myself doing this very often, I bought the Camshaft Position Sensor from Autozone for $35.00. However, I cannot find the part on the engine so I can replace it. I have been looking on the Internet with no results for a diagram. I called GM and they said that I need to bring it in to the dealer and they can replace it for me. The whole point is, I want to replace it myself to save money. Does anyone have an engine diagram to locate the Camshaft Position Sensor?

To the car that needs full brake application sometimes... that is a SES code that says that your Engine Idle sensor is bad. It only cost me 100 dollars for the sensor, and you do the math for labor for my 2000 GL. Solved my problems of revving 3000 rpm when "idle". And the car dying randomly (mine within the first 5 min of driving it only, starts right back up.) It is also a SES code which is the crankshaft position sensor which should solve the problem, but I just don't get it fixed because I'm a college student and don't have all that much money. I don't see it being too much more than the other sensor and my problem of my car dying is not that severe. Hope it solves problems.

I also have a 2000 olds intrigue and my service light is on and I took it to auto zone and I was told that it was my torque coverter, but I took it to a trans. dealer and he told me that he had the part, but its nothing wrong with the converter, but if I wanted to give him the money he would take it other than that I don't have a problem out of my car and I bought it used and have over 143 thousand miles on it.

I own a 2000 Olds Intrigue, I love my car. It, recently, had been giving me problems with the turning off. We replaced the mass air flow sensor. We had to try starting about 7 or 8 times. It reset the computer. Then we took it out and opened her up. Now she is back to purring like a kitten.

Hi, I have an 2000 Oldsmobile Intrigue and on a recent trip out of town it ran severely hot and cut off while doing 75 mph on the highway, and has not started since. I had it towed home, well it didn't take a genius to figure I blew a head gasket. But now after fixing that, I figured out that I needed to reset the computer, because something is not letting all of the sensors receive the voltage signals that they need in order for the car to start. But I don't know how. can you help?

You can reset the computer by disconnecting the positive battery cable for about one minute and replace it. That should do it. It worked for me.

I have a 2000 Intrigue, and I have had almost every sensor replaced a while ago, and even the engine recently, BUT I am still experiencing the same initial problem... my car will not start.. it is getting gas and the started is working fine, but it will not turn over.. sometimes it will if I hold the gas pedal down, but it will still cut off... I was told that my computer is bad, could this be the case? I would like another opinion before I put another dime into this car...

As I understand it, your car is not turning over. The mechanic should have done this, but if not...

They should have tried a hand held switch on the starter. Taking out the car's ignition switch. Sounds like all have been checked but the ignition.

I have a 2000 Oldsmobile Intrigue. It's work great until recently it had trouble starting and the check engine soon light came on. The two codes that came up indicated a cam sensor and crank sensor. The initial mechanic I sent it to said it could be a possible PCM power failure. Has anyone had any problems like this?

The crank sensor is under the starter.

Try putting you car in neutral and starting it... if that works its probably your ignition... my email is str8_shootin@comcast.net.

Uhhhhhhhh!!! I bought a 98 Intrigue for $400. It runs fine till it warms up. Thought it would be an easy fix and make my girl a good car. I have been working on it for 2 days.

I have a 92 Park Avenue with a 3.8 that is solid and runs great, and motor wise it's identical.

I have installed a new fuel filter, blew the guts outta the catalytic converter (yeah I know this will kick the mil light on). Tried the ignition module and coil packs from the 92 Avenue. Pulled the balancer off and checked the crank sensor on the front of the engine (getting the bolt and balancer off was a nightmare; had to use 3/4 drive impact!!).

The cam sensor obviously has to be good cause my rpm gauge works fine. As I understand there are 2 crank sensors??? I have inspected the one behind the harmonic balancer and it's fine. What is the location of the other sensor???
