Summary:

Good value for money

Faults:

Not much has gone wrong. I must say I'm one of a few lucky owners.

Front tyres don't last at all.

Following the service book is expensive.

General Comments:

I have had a V6 saloon for about 4 years now. While it gives me the confidence to stand against anyone even motorbikes, it chews up its front tyres like no other car driven before. They aren't that cheap either. I do a lot of miles; this is a major downside for me.

Brakes are crap, but once you get used to them, they are fine. Just try to push them down even when the ABS cuts in.

No problems so far apart from the front tyres. Tried Michelin, Pirelli and Goodyear. Suggestions would be appreciated.

Try Michelin Energy tires, if you drive below 100 m/h because they are not sporty.

How much air is into your tires? I had this problem with my 2003 V6 Laguna and it was solved by adding presure to the manufacturer max allowed, 39psi and got rid of the problem.

Summary:

Excellent all rounder, unbeatable value for money

Faults:

Only minor niggles to report, mostly electronic. The thermometer and the radio displays have given up, but the radio etc still works, you just can't see the display.

Other than that, it's just the normal consumables (brakes, tyres, exhausts etc.)

What is amazing is that more hasn't worn out. It's got 120,000 miles on the clock and it's still on it's original clutch! Never let me down in 4 years, and all it has is a 'standard' service in a garage once a year.

General Comments:

Fantastic value for money. A 3 year old comfortable car cost me 5 grand. That was 4 years ago and it has never let me down and I've only serviced it since - not spent another penny.

It needs a bigger engine I'd say. The 1.8 struggles to get moving if you want to overtake anything I'd suggest you wait until you're on a motorway. That said it's very, very quiet and rather smooth. Pretty graceful progress and I enjoy driving it.

Lots of other decent estate cars around - but not at this money. You get all you want for very little money, and it's not bad looking either. Aircon, elec windows, remote locking - the newer models even throw in Climate control and CD players on the LX models.

Previous carCitroen XM

Summary:

Probably the best car I have had, though the Citroen XM was more comfortable

Faults:

Passenger Window motor, or more likely, the motor switch, failed.

Electronic speedometer interface failed.

The silencer has been replaced once.

The front discs have been replaced once.

A roll bar link had to be replaced.

General Comments:

This car has never been near a dealer.

I do everything and is one of the most reliable and comfortable cars I have owned.

It handles very well and is very quiet even at 90+ mph.

The engine is chipped, (140 bhp) and the top gear acceleration is amazing.

It uses no oil between changes (10,000 miles). I use Miller oil and get a free analysis from them.

Summary:

It is a pleasure to drive

Faults:

Thermostat stopped working. It cost £220 to replace the thermostat at a Peugeot dealer.

General Comments:

I payed £2,050 when I purchased it at 81,000 miles in 1994.

So far I am very satisfied with this car.

Despite the 4 speed auto, it is very quick and responsive, especially in sports mode. It handles very well. It is a pleasure to drive.

The electronic climate control does not put the fan in highest speed no matter what the temperature is set to. Sometimes I have to control the fan speed manually.

I usually drive in the town in sports mode. It makes around 20-22 mpg. Not too bad for a V6 3.0L Automatic.

Comprehensive insurance cost £800.
