2000 Peugeot 806 GLX 2.0 litre 16v petrol from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Refined, flexible, roomy, but a bit wallowy

Faults:

Only 3 faults

1 > Clock has stopped working

2 > Back light on air con rad-out has gone out

3 > Remote locking stopped working at 100000 miles

I'm sure you will agree none are a nightmare, but the locking is a P I T A.

General Comments:

External the paint work is still great apart from a 2 cm "chip" that appeared on the wheel arch 2 years ago, but as the body is galvanised, no rust has set in.

Interior:

The upholstery is still looking good.

Versatility is great with the only issue is where to store the seats when removed (7 seater). The 5 rear seats can be removed in any order to manipulate the seating plan to suit your required purpose.

I've had 3 adults and 3 fully assembled LARGE full suspesion mountain bikes in the back. There are also securing loops in the floor, so things can be strapped down.

The rear side doors are great for relieving the stress when kids are jumping out of the back... no pranging other cars in the car parks.

This is for a 2.0ltr 16valve petrol engine. MPG - 35 mpg is a general consumption, lowest of 25 when towing a large caravan, and best of 42 mpg on a motorway run. Tank range is about 450-500 miles. (large tank)

As for "performance", this is never going to keep up with a spirited driver on winding A roads, but that's not what this type of car is about. However I've also surprised a few people with how you can hustle these around, although body roll can be an issue... well according to one police officer who stopped me as he was quite alarmed at the amount of body roll observed when I went around a roundabout!? It wasn't bothering me though... go figure?

Space wise the car is GREAT. The only reason I've marked comfort down is that there is nowhere to put your clutch foot when doing an extended run on a motorway / highway. This results in me experiencing an aching ankle when getting out. Also mine does not have cruise control, but this is available as an option.

Apart from the above, the car is an effortless cruiser that has excellent cargo flexibility, whether boxes or people, and it tows well too.

Helpful review

Many Thanks.

2000 Peugeot 806 LX 2.0 petrol from UK and Ireland

Summary:

I was really sad to move on - miss her

Faults:

The speedometer did not work when we bought her and no MOT. Fixed both at a cost including service of £450 and never had to spend another penny on repairs. Passed next MOT with no cost.

Interior immaculate.

General Comments:

The car was a beauty. Low cost to run, economical.

Performance was fine for such a large vehicle.

Towing made a noticeable difference.

My family are tall (except me) and they just loved the space to stretch out.

I had no problem with the driving position or controls.

2000 Peugeot 806 ST 2.00 HDI turbo diesel from France

Summary:

Good workhorse kind for your wallet

Faults:

Nothing serious.

The CD charger began of Philips origin began to miss-function three years from new.

General Comments:

Trimming of dubious quality and obviously showing a design of the car in the early 90s.

Peugeot servicing overfilling not able to fill the proper quantity of oil in the engine. This could have resulted in destroying the engine.

Apart from that, living in Paris I appreciate that the car is easy to park as it is no longer than a Ford mondeo or a Citroen Xantia.

The car is quite comfortable and the boot cavernous.

On average the consumption is quite low. I return 6.5 l/100km (36 mpg, including some motorway at 130 km/h (80 mph) which is a good surprise for a car that size.

2000 Peugeot 806 SRDT 2.0 HDI from Norway

Summary:

Very good space compared to station wagons

Faults:

Replaced the front brake pads. That was an easy job.

Turbo rubber pipe blew while driving on the German autobahn. Had to wait for two days to get a new one.

Some front suspension parts.

General Comments:

The comfort is good, and performance is good. Our vacation was a bit delayed because of the turbo pipe, a shame that dealers didn't have quick access to such things. I'll probably keep this car for as long as it runs OK.
