2000 Plymouth Neon LX 2.0 16v from North America

Faults:

I have put 7,000 miles on the car since I bought it. Since that time the following have gone wrong:

1. Sunroof motor failed

2. Power window motor failed.

3. Rack and pinion steering replaced.

4. Idles rough and sometimes will die.

5. Rear defroster doesn't work all the time.

As of yesterday, the car won't start. It is now in the shop for repair. I don't exactly know what is wrong with it this time.

General Comments:

Thank God, I bought the extended warranty!

I have had almost the exact same problems with my 2000 plymouth neon lx... sunroof motor failed, window motor failed, rack and pinion steering replaced. defroster does not always work, air condition blows hot heat half the time, but dealership finds no problems with it??? transmission leaks had fixed less than a month ago, it is leaking again!! All I can say is Thank God I to bought the extended warranty.

2000 Plymouth Neon LX 2.0 L inline 4 cylinder. from North America

Summary:

A great car, but opt for the manual transmission and anti-lock brakes

Faults:

Only a few minor items have gone wrong with the car:

A mirror switch needed to be replaced.

The passenger-side mirror glass fell off.

The trunk lock needed to be replaced.

A power steering pressure relief valve needed to be installed.

All items were replaced under warranty. A technical service bulletin (TSB) pointed out the exact problem with the power steering valve.

General Comments:

The car handles smoothly over almost any road surface. Cornering is secure and general driving is fun.

The brakes are top-notch; the car stops on a dime. The anti-lock braking works well and unobtrusively. The traction control kicks in only when necessary.

The 5-speed transmission is good; the clutch is smooth and the shifting easy. The only complaint is 5th gear could be a bit more "relaxed."

The climate controls work well. The car is smart enough to cut-out the A/C when the engine needs more power (e.g., at wide-open throttle, or at launch from a dead stop).

Seats 4 nicely, 5 in a pinch.

Good on gas mileage.
