I haven't had many problems with my car in the last 5 years that I have had it.
Timing belt, thermostat, and brakes went at about 90,000 miles.
Normal oil changes.
Full tune up done at about 105,000 miles.
New tires at about 110,000 miles.
That stupid brake pin went 2 times-that switch that turns the brake lights on and off.
Replaced battery a few times, my own fault, I had fog lights put on the car and they hooked them directly to the battery.
Twice a year, she gets a full detail.
I love my car, she has been very good to me.
I paid $4000,5 years ago and was able to do most of the work myself, which saved me ALOT.
It could use a few more cup holders and an ashtray in the back.
I must say, she is 10 years old and still has a beautiful shine to her.
You are outrageously lucky. I have had the unfortunate pleasure of owning numerous chysler vehicles. Starting with an 88 Dodge daytona, 89 Lebaron, and 87 dodge 600. ALl of these vehicles had the same 2.2 lire 4cylinder engine.
Recently out of desperation, I purchased a 94 sundance withthe same 2.2 l 4cylinder. It seems that no matter how hard they tried they just couldnt get it right. There is not a single engine related problem that I have not experienced with this car, and I am trulysorryfor all of the people like me who work hard for their money to waste it on such an unreliable pile of rubble.
I thought that Chysler had learned their lessons of the past when I purchased a 1999 Plymouth grand Voyager. Its transmission went out at 80,000 miles. For an expensive vehicle that I trusted to carry my family, this is not acceptable. MAny people have also had problems from these vehicles. Chysler is a disgrace to the American economy, and gives other American vehicles a bad name. For a complete list of all of my problems with these various vehicles, please feel free to e-mail me. My money is going to Chevrolet, OR toyota, or Nissan. thanks cmatt68@aol.com.
Directed at the last comment, not the initial review.
Actually, it sounds like you just had an uncommonly bad run of luck. The Chrysler 2.2L Corporate engine is renowned for its performance and reliability.
I have owned several Chrysler vehicles, and they have never been anything, but capable and reliable. Basically, you're blowing hot air.
The only time a Chrysler product blows hot air is when the air conditioner is on max.
My comment is geared towards the first comment by the guy complaining how awful Chryslers are and how bad the 2.2L motor is. You MUST have had notoriously bad luck because the 2.2L engine has a reputation for being incredible durable and long lasting. To think that other car makers don't make junk vehicles is just foolish. My Dad's girlfriend has a 2005 Chevrolet Equinox with roughly 26k miles that she bought brand-new and the thing has had SERIOUS mechanical problems already! The stupid thing was loosing coolant and running hot. She took it to the dealer who took the engine apart because they thought the head was warped. It ended up being a leaky gaskets and a bad pump. At the same time the stupid AWD system was staying locked in AWD full time, which it's not supposed to do, causing the rear wheels to skip and squeal everytime she took tight turns. Toyota is good, but far from perfect nor is Nissan. Everyone makes junk. Cars are created by man after all.
Amen to that... I learned the hard way to buy cars... know the person you buy it from.. how they take care of it... I had the 2.2 and drove it to 180k yea it never died, but had its age problems and all OLD engins have... all car companys have their cheap cars... as loong as you take care if it from the start "usualy" they last forever... chrystler makes good product. so does toyota... for people who live in america it would be a discrase to buy a forign car... all cars are crated equal.. so don't condemn your own countrys car companys.
