The air compressor locked up this was easily fixed by Changing the serpentine.
I have had to have most of the sensors replaced in order to comply with emission laws.
It seems to Stall out in car washes or large puddles, I am not sure why yet. I replaced the starter coil pack and ran a couple of basic checks... anyone?
This has been a nice car and I have taken it on many a long trip.
It still runs well save in heavy rain it is wise to pull off (due to stalling?).
The inside is very bright and my model came with a sliding floor pack thing for change and drinks (i guess that is rare).
It is front wheel drive and you can tell.
The body has no rust, but I just moved to Chicago so I'm sure that'll Change.
Hey have you tried changing the spark plug wires yet? if not get wires that have a good warranty on them (you could even get a silicone spray from an auto store and spray this on the wires to waterproof them). To test if the problem is your spark wires pop your hood and get either a garden hose or a spray bottle and wet the wires and see if the car stalls out. Post a reply if this helps you out =)
Hi,
I had a problem with my 6000LE (2.8L v6) stalling as well, but in random conditions. The cause of my stalling was the Crankshaft Sensor. With my car, oil was leaking into the chamber where the Crankshaft Sensor is located and getting soaked in oil. Eventually, the sensor wasn't able to function due to the oil and it cut the engine.
If your car is leaking oil, you may have the same problem. If so, the Crankshaft Sensor is located between the firewall and the engine (in the 2.8L v6). You need to get under the car (you won't be able to access from the top/through the hood), reach up between the firewall, unclip the wiring, unscrew the crank sensor and replace. I think it's a 10mm or 15mm wrench and it's a very tight space so be patient. I replaced with a Bosch sensor and it has not stalled since. Hope it helps.
Does anyone know how to get more power out of the 2.8L engine?
My car did the same thing.turned out to be the wiring harness for the gas tank. look for rotten wires at the connector.
I had a pontiac 6000 lil 15 sister stole it took it for a
police fast ride from the sw to the ne cops never can keep up with it had a chip in it lot of horsepower going 105.
Hey, my 1991 Pontiac had the same oil leak problem. Now I need a new sensor as well, but also my hood latch wire snapped and now I can't get my hood open. Any ideas on how I might open it?
