"Not sure how high I could have gone."

- Knowing the Northstar as I do, with the speed limiter taken off, at least 150 mph.

Had a black 05 Bonnie GXP. Had it at 155 once, was going for the 160 on the dash, but the back end started to get a little loose and began to slightly sway from side to side, so I backed off the throttle. IMO, it will do the 160 easily. I have smoked everything from BMWs to Mercedes to 5.0 Mustangs. It's not the car, it's the driver. Always remember that.

On the down side: the motor mount broke, when I do not know, and the wheel bearings had gone bad and needed replacing. Got rid of it instead of paying to fix all that. But I would definitely buy another one if I can find one with low enough mileage.

Last thought, I am a very, very aggressive driver. I'm sure normal driving would have prevented some of these repairs.

Overall: it is a very good car for the price.

Hey guys, I have a chance at a 2005 GXP, but it has 190,000 miles, so do you think it could be a reliable car?

At that mileage, the Northstar engine was more than likely rebuilt or replaced.

They weren't exactly known for being reliable when new, and the passage of time isn't going to make that improve. The last time I drove a Pontiac was when I rented one on a business trip 10 years ago. It was without a doubt the biggest piece of garbage I've driven, with an awful interior and really poor handling. Save your money and get something else.

My 1990 was my best car ever. Even better than our Acura Legend purchased new. Great individual gauges and even a nice suspension. An earlier car than the review of course.
