Alternator belt snapped at 143,200 miles.
Clutch froze, it was too expensive to fix.
Quick, fun little American exotic.
Uncomfortable interior.
Only seated two people, but had a lot of leg room. It felt like you were sitting on the floor, though.
The body faded at a different rate as the front clip, making it look two-tone.
Hard to work on the mid-engine design.
Engine under lock-and-key, however you pop the hood, despite the fact theres only a spare tire and a radiator.
Trunk barely big enough to fit 2 full backpacks, and located right next to engine with minimal heat insulation.
Almost 2 feet between driver and passenger.
No glove compartment.
Pontiac Fierro.
It is a fun loving car that is maintained properly like change the oil every 3,000 miles or every three months...
Will last a long time.
I have this wonderful car for 6 years and it help me save money on gas when it comes to higher gas prices.
It seats just right. It feels just right. The maintenance is dirt cheap compared to other sporty cars...
Hey.
I just bought an '86 2M4, all stock, in March 2004. It has about 64,000 miles on it now, and it runs great! Gotta say I love the little car - sporty, but great mileage - a very efficient little beast with some edge!
My brother and I each bought a 1986, 2m4 Fiero. Mine an economy model w/5spd., my brother's is a 2m4 sport model SE w/5spd.
Drove his to Vermont a year ago and got 30-35 mpg! Since we are sports car nuts, we both installed a V8 Archie's kit. I installed an LT1 (out of a 1995 corvette) with some performance mods; dual exhaust and the SE/GT front bumper.. as well as the vette radiator.
My brother installed a built 350, 4 bolt Corvette engine, and the front and rear pieces to convert his 2m4 into a GT clone.
Both cars, with V8 Archie's kits, have been completely reliable and you cannot believe how quick the Fiero is after you convert it into a 2m8!
5th gear gives excellent gas mileage, but the acceleration is where it's at. 2m4's came with Isuzu 5 speeds, and both have held up to the new power level with no breakdowns!
Also upgraded to steel brake lines, all mobil one fluids, 16" wheels and much better tyres (Yokohama's) for us though have BFG comp t/a 's kdw for this summer, and both can use upgraded brakes. That's this summer's project, lots of performance for very little cash.
A great hot rod. I can't wait till this summer when I'm at a stoplight, or on a favorite road and some guy (or girl) pulls up next to me in a Solstice! Highly recommend the V8 Archie's kit!
Can someone explain why the above post is... written... in... Morse... code?
Unless LT-1 engines grow on trees I dount think all the mods you 2 did two your fieros were cheap, also I'm not sure why you made the comment about your mods on this guys review???
