1997 Pontiac Grand Am GT review from North America
"Problematic"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
I have had the waterpump replaced once.
Have replaced both mirrors once due to paint peel.
I have had the blower motor for the ac and heat replaced.
All that was before the 36000 mile warranty ran out. Afterwards I have replaced...
The alternator twice.
A-arm bushing wore out.
The rotors five times due to warping, of course there are no turnings of these particular rotors due to thinness.
I recently started having coolant leaking from the plastic outlet connector on the block where the radiator hose connects.
The radio knob that controls the volume is not sure of up or down.
And the current problem to date is a misfiring problem with the cylinders.
I have replaced the coils, coil covers, boots and spark plugs. Also the ECM, and main computer to try and solve the problem. I replaced the fuel pump and finally had to take it to a Pontiac dealer who have had the car for two weeks.
General comments?
Up until my most recent problem with misfiring of the cylinders, I have performed all maintenance on the vehicle, so my cost was relatively cheap. But I would not buy another Pontiac if it were the last choice of car left. This car is problematic and the quad 4 engine was an engineer inbreed.
