1997 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP Coupe 3.8 Supercharged from North America

Summary:

Best Pontiac Made

Faults:

Nothing has really gone wrong with the car. Had to give it a tune up and replace a couple things when I first bought it because it is a ten year old car. Put in a new supercharger bearing. because the original was shot. The stock rims and tires made a lot of road noise so I bought brand new 17 inch rims and performance tires. The paint on the car chips and peels pretty easily. And the Headlights got fogged up and were pretty yellow so I bought a HID kit and it looks really nice.

General Comments:

I really like the car It is fun to drive and fast. It is Luxurious inside with soft leather seats and a big back seat with a lot of leg room even if its the coupe. It has HUD (Heads up display) wich projects the speed and other things on the windshield wich is a cool feature. And you can find a nice used one for a good price like I did. I paid $4,990 and it is probably the fastest, best looking, most comfortable, safest and most reliable car you can buy for under $5,000.

1997 Pontiac Grand Prix GTX 3.8 S/C from North America

Summary:

Love it!

Faults:

I bought my 1997 Grand Prix (GTX) car, as it is a rare car, being a GTX conversion done in 1998 from a GTP to GTX. It is a car you can mod very high, and it makes a very good track car or daily driver, and is very fast when modded.

I own a 2006 Grand Prix as well, love it.

I bought my daughter a 2001 SE Grand Prix, and she loves it.

General Comments:

My 1997 GTX has had many things done to it to be a fairly fast sports car, as well as a great looking car. I could tell you it has a great looking cockpit, and at night the light show of everything lit up is in red, and is great looking.

It has a HUD system on it. It is a heads up display in the windshield like fighter jets have. It shows your speed, radio station, signals when on, and many other choices.

Best is to view my car online and see it and others on this USA site for Grand Prix's only. To view my car and my site go to:

Mnclubgp.com

Then click on garages and type in: Redman and you can view my site and my 1997 GTX.

Drive safe and have fun. -Redman.

1997 Pontiac Grand Prix GT 3.8L V6 from North America

Summary:

POS. period

Faults:

Having transmission problems. My car won't shift into overdrive at all. It will shift from 1st to 2nd and that's it. Could this problem be remedied cheaply? There is a SES light on, haven't ran any codes yet. I'm thinking it could be a TCC or possibly the entire Torque Converter. Any help would be excellent...

Other than that the car is a pile. No more Pontiacs and I'm seriously reconsidering any GM models. This is the worst used car I've ever owned BY FAR.

General Comments:

It needs struts, tires, alignment, exhaust repair, door handle repair, A/C repair, just about everything in the car needs work. It's ready for the junkyard as it sits.

1997 Pontiac Grand Prix SE 3.8 from North America

Summary:

I think they are great cars; they run good

Faults:

All happened this year:

My car would die while driving like another commenter has mentioned. Replaced mass air flow sensor; fixed.

Water pump went out slowly about 4 months. Thank God I just kept adding coolant.

Alternator went and then battery after the alternator was replaced. I thought that was weird.

That's the only problems I've had; really major ones.

General Comments:

You all just have to do routine maintenance on your Grand Prix, and it will be a great car.
