My 2001 sunfire has the service light with the wrench on, and when it does the lights flicker. Everything seems to be working fine so far. No weird noises or unusual behaviour. No codes come up. Should I worry now, or wait until something starts to behave differently? Please help! telephone_book@hotmail.com.

My 2002 GM Sunfire has had major repairs with wiring problems. It has been in with the dealer 3 times, headlights and DRL not working, in 6 months for a total of $600.00. Wires are getting corroded in the wiring harness and separating causing the lights to short circuit. With all the comments I have seen on this problem, GM should be issuing a recall, also the Transportation Safety Board should have a serious look into this problem, this last incident yesterday left me in total darkness, its was only momentarily while I switched to high beam, but it did put me in danger, and left me having to drive with high beams to get home safely.

I own a 2000 Sunfire, reading all these blogs I have been getting off pretty easy. I to have the same issue with the service light coming on because of the DRL and I have no high beams. Out of the blue I was driving today and the check engine light came on and is staying on. Anyone have an issue with this and might give me a fix about it. I am not techincally inclined at all and fear going into a dealership because I might be soaked for all the cash I have. I guess I gust need some re assurance that I can drive it... please help...booms100@hotmail.com.

Thanks.

I checked all the fuses under the hood and the ones inside the drivers seat and they r all good even the relays are good I brought it to get it checked in a garage and apparently it's a miscommunication between computers and he told me to bring it to GM I wanna know if I could fix it myself PLZ help me

We just bought a 1998 Pontiac Sunfire and we are having a problem with the Odometer LED Display. There are no lights at all and we were told that we need should replace this for a cost of 1000.00 Has anyone else had a problem pertaining to this issue as I was hoping it could just be a wiring issue instead of having to replace something more expensive. Please email me at thueging@mts.net if you have any answers...thanks.

I'm having a similar issue with the lights. I turn the car on, everything seems fine, then as soon as I put it in drive (or reverse) the headlights flicker and the service (wrench) light comes on. Everything seems to be fine at the moment, but I'll test the high-beams, etc. later today. I was really hoping that by the time I read all the previous comments and got to the bottom, someone would have mentioned a recall, oh well. I'm glad I got the extended warranty since I had other issues (mentioned here) that were all covered, but it's now expired and I think it's time to seriously consider a new car before this one gets any worse.

2005 sunfire owner. cd player failed. I repaired driver-side door switch that was sticking. it has always had starting issues: when you turn the ignition key you hear a click then a time delay before it cranks. car has never failed to start, but the delay makes you wonder sometimes. dealer never found the starting problem to this day. I never experienced any problems with headlights. the temperature indicator has failed and it collides with the tachometer needle.

I am the owner of a 2005 Pontiac Sunfire with the same headlight problems as everyone else seems to be having.

My drivers low beam is out and the passenger flickers when I put it into drive.

I am taking it to the mechanic tomorrow to get it fixed.

This is the first problem I have had with my car, and other than this problem, I believe it is a great car.

I hope nothing else happens to change my opinion.

I have a similar problem like everyone else, if you can let me know what the problem is it would be great. 2000 Sunfire

Low beams work, high beams do not. When you put the car in gear you hear the clicking and the service (wrench light) goes on. The bulbs have been replaced, the wiring harness checked no damages? Any help would be appreciated jmb2@hotmail.com.

I received a 1996 sunfire from a friend who was getting a new car. it has 186k miles on it. from what my friend has told me this issues has gone on for several months to a year. <trying to pin him down to a more solid time frame>

The issue is this: the gauges don't work unless you pound on the dash a few times. I have only driven it once for 90 miles, but they would kick in or out if we hit a bump. the dash lights are fine if the gauges work or not. but the radio went out at about the same time.

Anyone else have this problem or know of a possible solution. I would like to try and fix it before sinking money into a sinking ship.

Please let me know at sacriffy@yahoo.com.

Hi.

(Also sent to another: copy and paste)

I have had many of the same issues; wiring problems. The electrical harness is not the major problem, however, problematic, but it was recalled, and replaced by GM. The other major problem is the main body ground is defective, and should be replaced, but not by GM. it is very problematic and effects every aspect of the car. I live in Canada, and thought it would cost me about around 1500, or better to trouble shoot, and repair est? However, the cost at the end off the day was $297.00, whereby, resolved this issue. I come back here, from time to time, just to post, and contact others. I know what it feels like, losing all lights at night on the highway. The frustration I had, therefore, just want to help others. I will provide the name of the out fit that did my car, and thier number:

Autopro plus(Canada), and if you could please the pass information along to others. My car was bought second hand, and I also a student, therefore, money was issue after buying what was to be a car in excellent running condition. I am also pre-law, and once married. If I had still been marrried, and have my child in the car when this occured, for the seller it would have been very problematic for him, and also myself. I fear at some point, some family will be in accident as result of this problem. That is why I come to post, and contact others. So please pass it along. Thank you and take care.

I am having the same problem with my headlights not working. I was wondering where you found the recall? If possible could you send me a copy or let me know how? Thanks. missy_514@hotmail.com.

I am the owner of a 2004 Pontiac Sunfire.

It was working fine until I decided to install a new alarm remote starter security system (SCYTEK 5000RS-2W MANUAL CAR 2 WAY ALARM/REMOTE START). Almost everything was working except for the remote start. When I open the door, the engine should stop running, and the next time I had to use the remote to start the car, but it didn't work. For some raison the car start acting strange; my anti-theft system light is on. When I start the car it only stays running for 2 seconds and then stops. I took it to the dealer; they said it's the BCM. I bought a new one, replaced it and they reprogrammed it. Now my A/C turn ons, and everything works except I don't get any cold air. Please, does anyone know what to do? I already spent $600 dollars.

I am also an owner of a 2000 pontiac Sunfire 2 door coupe and I have had some similar problems (blinking lights), but my main problem is that the A/C went out about 6 months ago. I took it to a shop and got it recharged (which lasted about two weeks), then I was told it was the compressor which would cost 600 bucks to fix. I figured I could suffer through the rest of the summer and wait til next year and fix it then, but I have been hearing that it may be a manufacturer malfunction and well now I'm hoping there's a change GM can foot the bill. On a side note; I had a '97 Cavalier that had the exact same problem with the A/C. Any news on recalls would be greatly appreciated.

I have a 2001 sunfire. I have had almost all these problems. I bought it in 2005. My AC compressor went out then my blower on 1-2 I have had three sets of brakes, I replaced my whole ehaust and then my check engine light came on. who knows why!

Then this morning my drl flickered and I noticed my head light was out, and now my service engine light is on. I am hoping that its not this wiring harness. we need to do something to get a recall going!

I am going to print out all these comments and am seriously considering going to one of the new stations that do that segments on these kind of things.

If anyone knows if that the headlight prob is why my service light is on let me know.
