1991 Porsche 911 964 C4 review from Australia and New Zealand
"A work of art, and a delight for the eyes and senses"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Bought the car knowingly with a slipping clutch and a few other bits and pieces. But since I got the car at a very reasonable price, then it was OK.
General comments?
Previously I had a 1980 911 SC, nice car but hard to live with in the wet and at the limit.
Then I purchased a Boxster S 2002, and yes it's still a Porsche and a damn good one at that too. But 3 months into the ownership it was stolen.
So for some reason, I was drawn back to a 911 (I can hear people saying, he woke up to himself LOL).
This 1991 964 of mine is a delight to drive at the limit, there's so much grip and reassurance that you're always in control.
To make it a little nicer to look at, I got some nice 18 inch cup style wheels, followed by a performance chip (Steve Wong U.S.A.) which is a real treat, and also a sport cat and a bypass pipe in place of the huge rear muffler.
The performance is very noticeable, from the original 184kw (246hp) to somewhere over 210kw (281hp). Not a great deal of difference in the numbers, but the power comes on much earlier and revs much quicker. It must be the right car for me, as every time I get in for a drive, a smile is not far behind :)
