Having spent some time looking for 'the right one' I have not had any additional expense other than servicing costs which compare equally too many newer mundane cars.
Find out as much as you can before you buy one and walk away if things don't seem right. To easy to let that singing flat six part you with your money.
This is my second 911 (993) having previously had the 964, having had several 944's before that. It's the one I always wanted and I have to say that every time I get in it, any stresses just vanish when you plant your foot down and hear that noise! I could have a 996 but prefer the air cooled variety plus I think the 993 is the nicer looking.
Whilst there are tuned to the max cars that will blow mine away if they don't blow their engine up first it is a very quick car. And with four seats, I can get both children in the back, practical. Whats the point having a great looking car when you have to use the boring one to turn up somewhere special!
No doubt there are better cars out there, but the overall package if you include emotion can't be beaten. Even going down to the supermarket with the wife is a blast.
Oh and check out the depreciation when your new Family Saloon/Hot Hatch have had a their first birthday. Mine is still commanding great money.
I am not rich! You don't have to be to have a 911. Just sensible and not mind people saying "I'd love one of them"
This car is the ultimate driving machine it is fast powerful and above all it looks great.
The 993 is a real classic and true you don't have to be rich to own a 911.
Just love my 1996 911 993, also own a 1986 Carrera, but it doesn't compare with the 993's 285 horse power and with it's four corner coil springs it really performs on corners compared to my older Carrera which sports torsion bar suspension which has been on 911's since 1965. If I had a ton more money I'd still chose the Porsche 993, it looks like it's going 100 miles an hour just sitting still in a parking lot, simply gorgeous, I own a "Wide Body" model. By the way, does any one out there know how many wide body models were produced in the 3 years of the 993 compared to the 993 narrow body styles?
