What things have gone wrong with the car?
The exhaust system was not well looked after, and I have had to replace the silencers and the gaskets due to driving on gravel roads.
My car has also recently started smoking rather heavily, probably due to worn valve stems or (at worst) a leak in the turbocharger.
On a cosmetic level, the seats (semi-leather) have torn in some places, and the plastic front grille has cracked.
General comments?
I love this car. As everyone says, it is the cheapest way to own a Porsche, and it is well worth it.
The mantainance is costly, but no more than for a standard BMW or even VW Golf 4. My car is currently in the shop having its exhaust repaired, and I really can't wait to get it back!
The aerodynamics of the 924 are famous, and this shows in its quick pace. Not many cars can keep up on the highway.
I love the interior. With bold badging on the doors and dash, you know you are in a Porsche.
So, even with the repairs, and the smoke, I would rather be driving this car than any other anywhere near it's price bracket.
