1989 Reliant Scimitar SS1 1.4 petrol from UK and Ireland

Faults:

Cam belt broke. My own fault for not replacing it when I bought the car at 40,000 miles.

General Comments:

What a great car! Costs peanuts to run (including laughably cheap insurance - 120 pounds a year).

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

I agree. I have owned a 1400cc SST for 15 years. Very cheap, very reliable. Also fun to drive.

I have covered 250,000 miles in the car and would not be parted with it.

Nowadays though, the 1400cc CVH engine is somewhat slow compared with many cars.

As a final comment, when last MOT'd earlier this year, the tester said that the emissions were so low that they surpassed the current standard for new cars!
