1995 Renault 18 RT 1.8 from UK and Ireland

Summary:

A luxurious affordable car with problems that need to be looked into to create a very nice car

Faults:

Warning lights failure resulted in low oil and engine failure on the motorway - needed a new engine as a result!

Key controlling the engine immobilizer failed to work. 1 week delivery from France for a new one, in the meantime my car is stranded.

Central locking system had problems and the boot sometimes doesn't lock along with front doors. Also it will sometimes lock and will not open from the outside.

Overall this car has served me well, but it has certainly put a hole in my pocket.

General Comments:

The car is very smooth and is at its best for motorway traveling, but exceeding 100mph took its toll on engine.

The car is a nice drive and has plenty of features that would keep a driver of a top of the range car happy.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

Renault 18 of 1995 year? This is something wrong - or Renault 19 or year 1985.

Technically it could be a 1995 registration of a 1994-built South American-manufactured R18, they were still made in Uruguay and Colombia until then.

How it then got to be a UK and Ireland review might make for an interesting story.
