On collection of the car from the dealership, the wrong specification alloy wheels were fitted.
Paint defects on various parts of the car, including the bonnet which had to be re-sprayed.
High level brake light is not bright.
Car had been driven through wet tar prior to collection and was covered along the passenger side.
Tar footprints in the driver's footwell.
Front mats securing clips not fitted. Clips were later found in a plastic bag in the driver's door pocket.
This particular model of the Megane has lots of toys for the money. Cannot fault the car with regards to performance or driver appeal. The little faults highlighted above cannot be attributed as faults against the car, but rather a sign of poor pre-delivery inspection.
The car was purchased from Glenvarigill Renault dealership in Scotland which should have a good reputation. However this particular franchise is totally incompetent in sorting things out. They have had the car 3 times to rectify the above "faults" and it is still not fixed. Their mechanics could not resolve the high level brake problem saying there was nothing wrong with it. However upon inspection by myself found that the bulb was not located in its holder.
Apart from these initial problems, the car itself is a good buy and certainly great value for money.
I'm glad that someone is happy with their Fidji.
I have waited over 11 weeks for mine and it has been delayed three times. As a result, I have cancelled my order as I'm not prepared to wait another two weeks!
To the guy who cancelled their order. If you are still interested in a Fidji Glenvarigill, St Andrews in Fife has 2 in their showroom. One is Metallic Green, the other Metallic Blue - The Metallic Green one has my "old" alloys on it - (see previous entry for the story).
Well I've got mine, waited 9 weeks. Are you supposed to get rear mats?

Yes you are supposed to get a full set of mats including rear ones. Make sure that they fit the retaining clips for the front otherwise it will slip under the clutch pedal.
I was most interested to read the above comments at a time when I was myself contemplating purchase of a Megane Fidji. I did subsequently make my purchase and took delivery on 1st March 2002. We were delighted with the service we received from Renault Croydon, but most of all with the car itself.
It was all we had hoped it would be we have since travelled over 5,000 miles in it at home and on the continent. I am even now, often discovering some new extra feature I had previously overlooked, mostly though we are most impressed with the smooth comfortable ride and of course it`s excellent economy.
We recently travelled over 150 miles on the motorway on 2.2 gallons of diesel. A special benefit when in France where that fuel is so much cheaper than here.
We also have noticed the point made above regarding floor mats, we only have two, but this is of course of very minor import indeed.
I have read the various comments made by owners and prospective purchasers of the Renault Megan Fiji Car. The majority of points made refer to very minor faults, apart from the lengthy delivery in one case whereby the person cancelled the order. What a pity he didn't wait and find out what he is missing. This car is beyond doubt the finest in its range. It's driver handling, comfort, economy, and extras for the money are unsurpassed. I would get another.

Regarding the comment about sunglasses holder I was advised not to have it fitted because of this problem.
Mine is due for it`s first mot now, the only trouble so far has been brakes squeak on dry days due to needing cleaning, and the drivers door seal wearing around the lock area...reason unknown...
Mpg is great around 53 solo, and around 43 when towing the caravan. that`s diesel for you!!
Basically can`t fault it...
Had my Renault Megane 1.6 Coupe Fidji, for 11,075 miles, and it has only been in the garage for its two year service. Is returning 37.5 mpg with a mix of A roads and motorway. I have had no problems with the car at all. It is totally reliable. The only criticism is that the air-con is not as powerful as some cars I have driven.
I Have had my Renault Megane 8 months now and have had to replace coil plugs the car has done 36000 mls has any Megane owner had similar problems.
