1992 Seat Ibiza Maximum 1.2 from Greece

Summary:

Good car and looks cool!

Faults:

Fuel filling pipe leakage at 151000 km. Problem was in manufacturer defect - friction of fuel pipe with brake line.

Oil leakage from cylinder head. This problem were corrected after the second visit to car garage.

Nothing special till the moment.

General Comments:

I bought last year model of IBIZA before it was changed to new model in 1993. My IBIZA has probably all features for its time including full body kit. Very cool looking car!

Enough quick for its engine, especially on medium speed. Rather difficult in climbing.

Some difficulties with speed changing. As I know, it is common problem for FIAT-SEAT cars of that time.

Roomy salon with good quality plastics and comfortable seats. Better than has Golf of the same age.

I am really suggest this car for those who is looking for inexpensive temporarily solution. Be careful controlling car condition before buying it.

This car has been a true joy in my life since I first picked it up, which I might add was for a good price too. never have I been in an old car of this engine size that can move as fast and sounds like it has years of use left, the only problem is the engine mounts! ah! if anyone knows the answer it would be much appreciated, please don't make say goodbye to my car. christophay2004@yahoo.com.

1992 Seat Ibiza GLX 1.5 Carburettor from UK and Ireland

Summary:

A fast, reliable hot-hatch!

Faults:

Head gasket blew due to faulty fan switch.

Fuel pump pipe split - v. cheap to fix.

Carburettor blocked up - jets needed cleaning.

Exhaust has small hole near front - gives an excuse to put a performance pipe on though!!

General Comments:

This car is certainly one of the better looking ones of its type, much better than most other hatchbacks.

System Porsche engine really packs some punch in the mid-to-high rev ranges, cruises comfortably at 80mph, tops out around 118-120.

Interior looks a bit dated, nothing some seat covers and a new gearknob can't fix.

Very hard-wearing, if you see one going cheap grab it with both hands!!

I'm buying a 1.5GLX Seat Ibiza (Petrol/Manual). Does anyone know it's consumption per 20 liters (approximately)???

Thank You.

1992 Seat Ibiza GLX 1.2 from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Fast, reliable, good looking Seat Ibiza

Faults:

The manifold started to blow so it needed a new gasket.

My rev counter sticks.

A grinding noise is made when putting the car into 3rd gear and reverse.

General Comments:

This car is very fast for the engine size and will beat any Pug, Fiesta or Nova off the line.

The System Porsche Engine gives the car a smooth and fairly quiet drive.

My Seat Ibiza looks very sporty and comes up great when well polished!

I feel it's a shame that finding modifications for this car is beginning to prove impossible e. g Spoilers, body kits, exhausts and air filters.

However the seats are comfortable, but the dash could do with a serious face lift.

Anyone that has this model of seat please contact me, or if you know where I can get modifications for my car - sh0061747@blueyonder.co.uk.
