1992 Seat Ibiza GLX 1.2 petrol from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Excellent car with no major problems at all!! Am I the only one who has modified one though!!

Faults:

Radiator thermostat went, but cheap to fix.

Driver side CV boot split.

Rear window heater is broke.

Rear brake keeps seizing up.

Are the hand-brakes on all the earlier shape Ibiza's this bad?!

General Comments:

Quite quick for such a small engine.

Mine has 15 inch alloys and handles quite well, but does need the suspension stiffening up though!

It has a full color-coded body-kit plus a few extras of my own and looks good for a 9 year old car!!

Excellent car. Wider tires make petrol costs a bit higher but otherwise cheap and fun to drive.

If anyone else has modified an earlier shape Ibiza, could they contact me to share/exchange ideas!!

Hello, I own a Seat Ibiza Special Edition, which comes with System Porsche. I believe it is quick too and I leave people at the line. Where did you get your body kit from, I've been looking all round for one. And does 15" fit easily in there?

I also have just bought one and I am impressed with the engine and handling for such a small car. I am also looking for body kits. Where did you get yours from?

1992 Seat Ibiza GLX 1.2 petrol from UK and Ireland

Summary:

One of the best car purchases I've made!! Forget your Peugeots and Fords - But a Seat Ibiza!!!

Faults:

Door trims rattled and needed replacing.

Reverse light switch broken - replaced.

Oil & oil filter change.

Engine runs jerkily at around 1500 revs - possible cause: muck in the carb or the engine may require tuning.

Coolant temperature gauge not working, any sugguestions?

General Comments:

Surprisingly quick for a 1193cc engine, goes as fast as my old 'D' reg Pug 205 XS 1.4!!

Body roll is terrible - need uprated suspension.

It's a VW bottom with System Porsche top engine.

Excellent economy 50MPG!! Better than some diesels!!

Body fully galvanised so minimal rust!

Good car for a grand!!

1992 Seat Ibiza Sportline 1.7 injection from UK and Ireland

Faults:

Electrical fault on speedo.

General Comments:

Difficult to get parts for unless you go to the main dealer which can be costly. Other than that it's a good/reliable little car which is quick and cheap to insure.
