1999 Subaru Liberty GX 2.0 from Australia and New Zealand

Summary:

Nice car to drive

Faults:

Discovered a fluid leak, trace it to the gearbox, the washer directly behind the sump plug was an oval shape. Possibly cause by a previous service technician.

This was replaced and the problem was solved.

General Comments:

The engine oil has just been replaced with 10W-30 viscosity

I have noticed that on cold startup, the engine sound is a lot noisier then when at operating temperature. It sounds like a diesel engine, no engine rattles just sounds rough. Is this normal? Could it be the hydraulic lifters, the engine sounds fine when at the operating temperature.

Referring to the operator's handbook the Key less entry system there is no mention of an external light flash to indicate the doors have been locked/unlocked.

1999 Subaru Liberty Heritage 2.5i petrol from Australia and New Zealand

Summary:

Will never look back now I own one

Faults:

Excessive Oil usage after a few weeks of having it. Dealer has looked at this twice with no luck, have changed to 10/30 Penzoil and it seems to have made the situation better. Also changed to PULP and this has had some improvement in oil usage.

Both headlights blew out, replaced with XENON lamps.

General Comments:

THE BEST CAR I have ever had the pleasure of driving, smooth, reliable and everyone I know wants one now.

Have lowered it and put bigger rims on it. Tinted the windows and put a few coats of clear which gives it a near mirror finish.

1999 Subaru Liberty RX 2.5 from Australia and New Zealand

Summary:

Unbelievable value for money

Faults:

Nothing has gone wrong with the car. Zip.

General Comments:

What a car! I have previously owned a VT Acclaim. This car is miles ahead in technology, comfort, design, reliability, and drive-ability.

The engine is beautiful, the sound of the boxer is great, it has plenty of power especially 2nd gear on-wards.

It's comfortable inside and has all the features you'd ever need.

For a car that I bought, with over 100k on the clock and 4-5 years old, it feels like its new. I would normally expect the shocks to start going or something not being right, but this vehicle just keeps on keeping on.

Fantastic!
