2005 Suzuki Reno 2.0 4 cylinder from North America

Decent little grocery getter

Water pump failed (replaced under warranty), steering wheel vibrates excessively at speeds over 65 mph, a few areas where the interior is peeling, some paint fading.

General Comments:

My wife's car. Great for around town and roomy for an econobox. I especially like the headroom and trunk space.

It's been pretty reliable, especially for its price range. We had to have the head gasket replaced at 70,000 miles because the water pump failed, and my wife just kept going until she saw steam! We had to wrestle with Suzuki over that fact, but in the end they took care of us.

The interior has a few weak spots that are cracking and fading, but we live in Florida and it gets hot. The paint is fading in a few spots as well, and there's some cracking in the clear coat. Yes, I do use Armor All and wax.

There is an annoying front end shake at high speeds that we can't get rid of, and believe me, we tried everything; it's just the way it was designed. The dealerships in our area are closed now, hence the low dealer rating.

Not the best car ever made, but far from the worst I'm sure. For the right price, a good value.

2005 Suzuki Reno LX 2.0 from North America

Air bag lights on dash not working.

Constantly getting check engine light.

Had Suzuki fix a recall last year on the head lights. Just a few days ago, my head lights went out; same splice pack as the recall stated melted under my dash.

Master clutch cylinder went.

General Comments:

The recall wasn't fixed properly by Suzuki, Suzuki said "We fixed the recall and if it fails again, it is not our responsibility." Per Suzuki customer service.

This wasn't the first time I have had trouble with Suzuki. Their customer service is very poor. They refuse to fix anything if they can get away of it.

The car was good for like the first 6 months - that was it.

Stay away from Suzuki.

I had the same exact problems with my car. My car didn't even last 6 months. Problems consisted of the air bags, check engine light, air conditioner install incorrectly so they had to cut metal out from the bottom, transmission problems, issues with wires and so on. My advice is to stay far away from any Suzuki dealership.

Not worth the money

My engine light started coming on. Then after about 3 days of the engine light on, the car won't go up a hill and shifts very very rough. I had it hooked up to a diagnostic machine and they said it was a transmission range sensor. The mechanic said he couldn't find anything wrong with it. The car does great for a couple of days, then when you give it gas, it won't "go". Almost as if it is out of gear.

General Comments:

Great little car to drive, if and when it works!

2005 Suzuki Reno Four door from North America

A bomb

This car has been a great disappointment!!!

I owned several used cars; including a Vega, (SUZUKI RENO = VEGA), and I was hoping buying a new car would keep me out of the shop.

I bought a 2005 NEW Suzuki Reno. I might as well have bought a used car.

First the head light was dim like an aged car. They fixed it. Then, the tires were bald. I was told the dealer does this to create a smooth ride. I had to replace an entire wheel, because it slipped down a minor hill, in a quarter inch of winter precipitation.

There were the recalls for the water pump and the heat shield.

Most of all I needed a new HEAD GASKET at 38,700 miles. Oh my word!!! I don't even say that! Very disheartening.

All I can say is; pay attention to your check engine light, that always comes on.

This light comes on all the time, every other month, for gas emissions. This happens so much, that one would disregard it.

Eventually; within 38,0000 miles you will have MAJOR ENGINE trouble... don't drive it.

IT IS JUST LIKE A USED CAR THAT HAS miles ON IT. except it handles nice. (I thought I was buying a Japanese car).

Don't buy one! Unless you want a used car.

They should have recalled it for THE HEAD GASKET... it would have been just!!!

Daewoo makes it...

Daewoo makes mine as well now at 70,000 no problems.

I have had too many issues with my Reno as well. I was the second owner, however, it was a hand-me-down from my father.

At about 70,000 miles, the transmission went out. I had to replace that.

Around 90,000 miles, the battery, fuel pump, and head gasket all went bad at once! (Tip: the fuel pump is under the back seat, no need to go through the hassle of cutting the exhaust pipe and dropping the fuel tank)

This car is horrible for winter, it is too light so it slides around and it has the worst front wheel drive system ever! The engine and everything else under the hood does not weigh enough to keep it moving! Last winter I had to put over a dozen tires on that car!
