1994 Suzuki Sidekick JX 1.6L 16v SOHC from North America

Summary:

Very useful little truck

Faults:

The only failures have been headlight bulbs.

Never left me stranded, never had to walk.

General Comments:

Vehicle performs very well for what it is, engine has ample power, although the power is delivered at lower rpm and the engine is not a real free revver.

This vehicle is very capable off road. It has a rugged no frills 4X4 system. It delivers its torque low in the rev range witch is great for city driving and especially off road and the 1.6l 16v has a 6500 RPM red line.

1994 Suzuki Sidekick JX 1.6 from North America

Summary:

Parts are way overpriced on these things

Faults:

Transmission went out... that should be more than enough considering it cost me 2300.00 dollars to get the thing fixed. Besides that nothing really.

General Comments:

Parts are overpriced, ride is harsh, top is way too complicated to take off. Car is powerless, I would not recommend this car to anyone except someone with a lot of patience and MONEY.

I have a 4 door JX and it has a lot of power. I think your problem is the auto. Mine has a five speed and it seems to deliver a lot of power to the rear wheels. I'll admit, its no dragster. What do you expect out of a 1.6. As for the parts being expensive, mine has never had a problem. I bought it new in 1994 and put 100000 on it and haven't had a serious problem yet. These are great cars and really good in the snow. I'll recomend it to anyone.

1994 Suzuki Sidekick JX G16b from North America

Faults:

The vehicle has no power, I have to floor the gas pedal to go up a 20 degree incline. Also the exhaust system rattles.

The rear end leaks gear oil from driveline. Very poor handling in windy conditions.

General Comments:

It's a cute car, people seem to like it. Me, I need more power.

I have a Sidekick, and it is the most gutless car you could drive! Zero to sixty in 60 minutes! The doors and the side panels are all rusted. It's a cheap tin box on wheels! The transmission has been replaced. The replacement parts are way, way too expensive. I will never buy another one, it's a piece of junk, and a death trap. Don't buy one.
