2022 Suzuki Swift Sport 1.4 turbo petrol from Cyprus
Summary:
Absolutely fun
Faults:
It's a low car with a stiff suspension. It scrapes easily on speed bumps, and potholes feel hard and noisy in the rear.
Battery failures that cause dashboard warnings.
The timing chain wears out, which is detected by hearing a rattling noise when starting the engine from cold.
General Comments:
I'll start by writing about the car's interior.
The sport seats hold you in very well, with good lateral support, while also providing comfort for long journeys.
The driving position is very good, and visibility is excellent. The steering wheel has the ideal shape and size, with a sporty feel.
The headroom in the Suzuki Swift Sport is excellent, which is not surprising given its tall, boxy dimensions. I also had no problems getting comfortable in the rear seats, although legroom might be an issue for taller passengers.
The lack of a storage compartment in the center console or an armrest is very noticeable, although it seems that many of the interior design decisions were made to save costs or weight, or a combination of both.
Storage space in the front is acceptable, with two central cupholders and a central storage compartment. There are also interior cupholders in both the front and rear.
Rear-seat occupants have few amenities, as there are no folding armrests or air vents, only a map pocket behind the front passenger seat.
The instrument panel design is simple and clear, offering the option to display gauges for horsepower, torque, G-force, braking, acceleration, and turbo pressure. The infotainment system features a 7-inch touchscreen, satellite navigation, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto.
The car features a 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder 'BoosterJet' gasoline engine, delivering 103 kW of power at 5500 rpm and 230 Nm of torque between 2500 and 3000 rpm.
The weight advantage drastically reduces the difference in straight-line performance, resulting in improved dynamics and fuel economy. The engine is much more powerful than expected and offers agile and dynamic response, even at low revs.
Without a doubt, the Suzuki Swift Sport's strongest point is its handling, offering a fun and dynamic chassis that is also comfortable and responsive.
Thanks to its lightweight chassis, its responsiveness exceeds all expectations as speed increases. The grip is impressive: the front end reacts to every movement without flinching, even on the tightest corners.
Despite the soft suspension, the driver's response is excellent and allows you to push the car to its limits.
The feel and response of the brake pedal are truly perfect, and the performance is very impressive thanks to the car's low weight.
An excellent balance between functionality and driving experience, meaning it's a car you can enjoy on a weekend getaway along a winding road, and an agile and comfortable urban vehicle you can live with on a daily basis.

Fantastic review, these are good cars. Quite surprised at the timing chain rattle at low mileage however. More frequent oil changes might help prevent this. But I wish manufacturers would just give all engines a timing BELT and a set interval to change them, these chains that are supposed to last forever never do, I swear all I hear about these days is failing or stretched timing chains on any car that has a chain.
