2010 Toyota Altis V 2.0 from Indonesia

Summary:

Give me back my old Altis!!!

Faults:

Sometimes the gas doesn't feel right. It often deliver some unwanted acceleration.

General Comments:

I was satisfied with the previous Altis that I owned, so I decided to buy another Altis, and this time it's the new one. I choose the silver color, which looks elegant in my opinion. The car feels bigger than the old Altis; the dealer said that the new Altis is wider. I test drove it and I decided to buy it.

It seems that Toyota has improved the gas response. Unlike the previous Altis, you don't need to give it a lot of gas to make this car go fast. However, day by day, I started to realize that the gas somehow feels jumpy. The engine is rougher and noisier than the old one. I was okay with it for the first month, but day by day, the engine noise started to disturb me.

Another thing is the steering feeling; it feels too loose and too lightweight compared to the old one. This is not a big problem, but it would be better if Toyota put some more weight on the steering wheel.

The interior feels less solid compared to the old one. When I knock the dashboard, a loud knock sound was heard. I wasn't expecting this, as I thought the newer would be better than the previous one. But I was wrong.

In addition to my complaints, when I close the cargo door, a cheap sound is made. This is very disappointing, and I want my old Altis back.

2010 Toyota Altis G 1.8 from Malaysia

Summary:

Toyota, please fix the rear seats and arm rest

Faults:

Squeaky sound at certain times. Not sure what caused it. I also heard some weird sound. It's like the car body is going to be broken down.

General Comments:

It's a great car. It looks fabulous in silver.

The fuel consumption is very good compared to the Civic, and it has a large cargo are (It can even fit a person inside!).

The car handles well, but the steering response somehow has a lack of precision. The steering wheel fits my hand perfectly. The gas pedal feels light weight, and you don't need to put a lot of pressure on the gas to make this car go fast.

I like the interior design, simple and neat, but boring sometimes. I like the silver details in the cabin. I think it's better than the wood trim in the higher trim Corolla.

There are few complaints that I want to share.

First of all, the cabin is not as I thought. I can hear everything from outside clearly. It's like the window has not being closed properly.

The engine is fuel efficient, but it's rough and it's annoying sometimes.

The rear seats are not comfortable. The stupid seat structure makes your shoulder have to be bent, and it makes your elbow hurt sometimes. The arm rest is too small and hard to reach.

This is a good car for those who often drive this car alone or with 1 passenger, but if you often drive it with your family, then this is not the car for you.

2008 Toyota Altis 1.6 from Indonesia

Summary:

It's a great but boring modern sedan

Faults:

So far the car doesn't have a problem thanks to Toyota's durability. But there are things that disappoint me.

Here are the things that disappoint me :

- Bad handling.

- Suspension's too soft, decreasing stability and control at high speed.

- Big body roll factors.

- Engine is noisy.

- Not comfortable for passengers that sit in the second row.

- Bumpy.

- When it drives on road with bad conditions, it felt like the rear wheels are kicking up.

- Air temperature at second row is too cold and sometimes too hot.

- Boring interior.

- Seats are not supporting and position is bad.

General Comments:

What I like about the car :

- Attracting exterior looks.

- Great durability and quality.

- Good performance.

- Great fuel consumption.

- Great standard features.

It's a great car, but not comfortable or fun to drive.

I think the dashboard copied the Suzuki Grand Vitara.

Hi, this is the real poster of this review, I also notice that when I turn on the engine, the dashboard and the armrest vibrate. The engine is very rough.
