2008 Toyota Avensis TSpirit 2.0 petrol from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Reliable, comfortable and well thought out

Faults:

Nothing.

General Comments:

The Tspirit model of the vehicle comes with full leather and satellite navigation.

It's very luxurious and the 2 litre petrol engine comes with plenty of punch.

The car is reliable and comfortable.

The only quibble I have with this car is the steering feels a little light.

I average about 32 MPG.

2008 Toyota Avensis 2.4 VVTi from Lithuania

Summary:

Reliable, conservative saloon

Faults:

Not a single thing! Through a 3 year period of every day driving over 55 000 km, only one light bulb burned out.

General Comments:

It's not a looker, blends into all sorts of traffic. The interior is also conservative. But everything is functional, build quality is good, comfort is not bad either. The seating position in my opinion is much too high, even with the driver's seat all the way down. The trunk is decently big.

The strong points of the Avensis are safety and the nippy VVTi engine. The engine was a real surprise - even with the automatic tranny, it pulls from the start really fast. Sounds good too! The fuel consumption is about 9L/100km average.

The downsides... don't know really. Of course it's not luxurious or sporty car, its genesis stands as family saloon or a comfortable and reliable every day car of a gentleman with an average budget.

The one thing you should never regret or have doubts is the quality and reliability - it's a Toyota after all.

2008 Toyota Avensis 2.0 D-4D turbo diesel from Romania

Summary:

Reliable, but don't expect too much of it

Faults:

There should be an oil storage compartment in the trunk as this engine burns the same amount of oil as a Russian truck would burn, 1 litre per 5000 km as average. (Owner handbook says 1 litre per 1000 km is acceptable! OMG...)

After 35k Km, it started to release black thick smoke behind it every time I try to get some power out of it, and I feel like I'm driving second hand junk.

Brake disks on the front wheels wore prematurely; after 42k there is more than a millimeter groove.

The rain sensor for the wipers acts strange, let alone the poor wiper speed management options.

Front lights could be designed more carefully; they collect dirt, and once they get semi opaque, there's no option but driving slow and careful.

The fuel tank cap leaks, and I got a permanent stain of fuel under it.

Same problem with the oil cap on the engine.

General Comments:

My Avensis is an SW, so I got an huge trunk.

Plenty of space on the inside too.

Decent interior design and finish.

Fuel consumption as mentioned in technical data, 6,2/ 100km on average.

Intelligent gizmos not more than necessary: ABS, EDS, ESP, TRC and they are working well.

Excellent safety features (9 airbags).

Dark rear windows factory fitted (even so, it's getting very hot inside on summer sunny days).

2008 Toyota Avensis Wagon Luna 2.0 D-4D from Belgium

Summary:

Solid, reliable, and oh so comfortable..

Faults:

Nothing yet... I have a lot of faith in the Toyota reliability.

General Comments:

Where to begin...

This car has everything a customer like me wants.

Bags of space, nice electronic things to play with,...

My eye fell on this car while driving my old one. It always struck me as a stylish car, especially the ones in black.

At this point I was starting to get some niggles with the old car. Nothing major but enough to annoy me.

Wanting to choose this time rather with my head than my heart, it all came down to this car.

Agreed, this car won't let you tear up the city streets and leave melting rubber on the tarmac... but what it does (and it does it very well) is that this car puts you in a protective shell full of comfort. I feel that this car will protect my loved ones while in the car. The doors themselves close with a thunk, much like a vault.

If you want a stylish car which offer a maximum of protection and great reliability.. look no further. It doesn't get much better than this. For better look in the direction of Lexus.

In short I love it.
