Left rear speaker came loose, making a noise.
Left seatbelt's hook, loose and vibrating.
Rubber lining on top of the driver's window was crooked and replaced.
Paint (carbon blue) chips really easily, lots of touch ups on the hood, no plastic shield exists yet, only an ugly bra.
This car has the same seats as in my father's Chevy Caprice, maybe it's because I just tried a Jetta... No lower back support, and very little side support. Really soft too.
My '91 Prelude had more torque than the Celica, and that's what really matters when you're passing someone on the highway, should have bought another one. I find myself down-shifting in 4th and flooring it to get the engine over the 4000rpm mark. By the way, under 4000rpm the car feels like a Corolla. I tried the GTS before buying the GT and I still can't figure out why they ask 7000$ more for it... and 2000$ more than a better in every way 200hp Prelude.
I am selling the Celica this week, and getting a (?reliable?) Jetta, with an interior that seems to be made with materials of better quality. By the way, don't you think that the plastics used inside both the GT and GTS, for the dashboard, doors, etc... look unworthy of an 25000$ car?
P.S. The Acura RSX is there, if you are considering the Celica PLEASE try a RSX first!!!
The GT-S's powerband isn't below 4K RPMs. It's around 6,800 - redline, duh. And a 6-speed's 0-60 time of 6.5-6.7, that would be why you're paying more too. Anyways, it's a sports car, it's not supposed to be comfortable, heh...
If you can't tell the difference between the GT and the GT-S then you "deserve" to be driving a Prelude.
I was and still am a Volkswagen fan, but am aware of their late flaws in reliability. As for giving your Celica for a reliable Jetta,... I have strong doubts a Jetta would be as reliable as a Celica.
Toyota makes some of the most reliable cars on the market. I know, my family owns 5 of them, all between 2 and 20 years old, with no problems. If you think you'll be getting a more reliable car by purchasing a VW, think again. My family rented a Jetta a few years ago (only had a few thousand miles on it) and while driving it on the freeway, the exhaust came loose and was bouncing between the road and the bottom of the car. We had to stop and tie the thing with some rope to keep it from destroying it's self. Next, we found that when we removed the key from the ignition, the whole ignition came out along with it (wow, those Germans sure know how to build quality stuff!). That's pretty bad for any car, especially one that's only a few months old. You get what you pay for. When you buy a Toyota, you're getting a well made reliable vehicle. Sure, they may initially cost more that other seemingly "comparable" models, but over the life of the car, you'll save money by having fewer expensive repairs.
Hey what's up all... all I gotta say about the Celica GT-S is that I absolutely love mine. It is such an awesome car... and it's fast. I put an AEM Cold Air Intake and a Tanabe Super Racing Medallion Exhaust on mine, and let me tell you, my car hauls. I have estimated my 0-60 time at about 6.5 seconds or so, and sometimes, a little less than that. But anyways, I think a lot of people rag on the Celica, but I can guarantee that those people probably didn't even test drive one. I drove it for the first time and I was hooked. There are so many parts that I am gonna put on my Celica in the near future, I can't wait. And as far as my opinion on Jettas...well...they are not bad... but I would never take one over a Celica.
Hi, the difference between a GT and GTS is the VVTL-i... that's easily worth the extra 7,000... since your such a Honda obsessionist, perhaps I can put it in layman's terms. VTECH:Regular ~ GTS:GT... get it?
