1990 Toyota Cressida 3.0 Liter 6 cylinder from North America

Summary:

Ultimate Sleeper, with Toyota reliability

Faults:

This vehicle was the very essence of reliability, ultimately I had to unload it when the head gasket went at 170 K, but I still got a pretty good price for it and the new owner still drives it around. Suspension started to get pretty loose towards the end.

General Comments:

Great Car, powerful 6, independent suspension, excellent handling, Like a 4-door Supra. Ultimate Sleeper!! I had to use it once for an Autocross event because my RX-7 was down, and it won it class (over 2 L stock). The other autocrossers thought it was a Camry and were laughing, but after 6 heats, they were laughing no more! I had found a set of Lexus 5-spoke wheels off of an ES300 and they really set the car off. I Miss this one, the Avalon is just not the same, FWD will never be as good as RWD.

1990 Toyota Cressida 24 valve DOHC Inline 6 from North America

Summary:

This is a top-notch, luxury 4-door Supra!!

Faults:

Lose screw on sun visor.

Leather cracked in a few places on the seats.

General Comments:

This Cressida is the best vehicle I have ever owned.

Bought brand new in '90 and I have not had a single problem. The engine runs so quiet you can't even hear it running, even with 223k miles on it.

Excellent handling, powerful inline 6 engine with turbo, and many luxury features.

Trust me, if you can get your hands on a '90 Cressida, you won't be disappointed!!

I am buying a 1990 Toyota Cressida and it has 122K H'way miles. Is it a good idea? Please e-mail with comments all your help would be greately appreciated.

Actually, the old slogan (used long before the Cressida ever appeared) was "Get your hands on a Toyota...you'll never let go!"

As far as the guy buying the '90 Cressida: book value per KBB is $3100 for private sale. If you can get it for half that amount--go for it.

1990 Toyota Cressida 3.0L V6 from North America

Summary:

Most reliable luxury car ever built... will last forever

Faults:

Absolutely Nothing!!!

Everything still works perfect.

General Comments:

I have owned this Cressida since day 1 when I bought it new in 1990. I now have 186,000 miles on it.

The car still looks and smells brand new.

The interior is in perfect condition.

Super powerful engine, same as the 1990 Lexus and Supra. (3.0L Straight Six Inline)

This Cressida has been all over the country on trips, California, Florida, Boston, New York, and is extremely comfortable with the leather interior.

The most reliable vehicle ever built, including the 1990 Lexus LS400.

1990 Toyota Cressida sedan supra from North America

Summary:

If you can get your hands on a Cressida, grab it!

Faults:

Gasket started leaking at 214,00 miles, and oil fouled/ruined the platinum spark plugs; easily repaired.

Gasoline leak at 220,800 miles; new filler tube required.

Front inner tie rods developed cracks at 208,00 miles.

General Comments:

Incredibly reliable car; more trustworthy than many cars a third of its' age.

It's extremely powerful and extremely comfortable, and still looks great inside and out, after fourteen Canadian winters. The body is solid as a tank, and the upholstery and dash are still gorgeous.

Surprisingly inexpensive to maintain for such a luxury vehicle.

This car has *never* broken down on me; it always gives me plenty of warning when it needs servicing. It's a luxurious *tank*, and can run well even when something is wrong. Which is not often.

Much of the routine servicing is so intuitive even I can do it, myself.

Very cheap to insure, and a pleasure to drive.

A bit thirsty in town driving; but less so than the currently fashionable SUV's.

I love this car, and have no intention of selling it. Ever.
