1993 Toyota Previa LE 2.4 from North America

Summary:

Amazing!!!

Faults:

My emergency brake light is on?

General Comments:

I love the "Mothercraft". It's the best car I have ever had! Can haul all the friends around without a problem! Feels like a car and rides very smooth! I wish that Toyota would keep making the Previa's!

I think that Toyota really needs to work on their service marks! Every time I go to Toyota, they act like they don't want to answer any questions about my 17 year old minivan.

Gas mileage is great... the motor sounds very quiet... and nothing rattles... a 17 year old car and nothing rattles! LONG LIVE THE "MOTHERCRAFT"

1993 Toyota Previa LE 2.4L i4 from North America

Summary:

Great family vehicle; easy on the pocketbook

Faults:

Occasional leak in rear differential -- especially if the air vent is clogged.

The drive for the front accessories went -- replaced earlier by previous owner under warranty.

General Comments:

Handling was pretty reasonable for a van, though somewhat underpowered -- basically acceptable.

The interior cabin is comfortable, but not opulent.

This van never skipped a beat as far as reliability went.

Mileage OK, but not great (28 mpg highway or so).

A cool little oil reservoir up front sucks up more engine oil if it's going low, though even at 250K didn't use much oil at all.

No real shakes and rattles developed.

Body panels are rust resistant.

Nice van!

Hmpf. All this from someone who only put 2K km on it and had it less than a year.

Even then, long term usage will most likely be positive. 44 reviews on this van and not a single seriously negative review. The only major gripe I have is the poor performance - a full load can really stress the engine (mainly on the non-supercharged models). But other than that, this is one of the most underrated vehicles of all time.

I have been driving my 93 Previa for 11 years with very few repairs. It has been very reliable, and I plan to drive it for another 4 or 5 years. I now have 124,999 miles whish is low for 11 years. In my city (New Orleans) Previas are used for taxicabs extensively. They are known as workhorses, and can carry up to nine people. Great decision I made in 1993. I almost traded it for a Sienna two years ago, but decided I liked the Previa handling better. It can turn on a dime and has superb handling, and the engine has as much pep as when new.

1993 Toyota Previa LE 2.4 16v from Spain

Summary:

A good comfortable mini van, to a good price

Faults:

The clutch plates broke after first year.

The exhaust broke at 160,000Km.

The engine water cooler broke at 200,000.

General Comments:

All-though I had a few problems I still think it's a great car.

It is very comfortable to travel long distances in.

The gasoline consumption is high.

There is not enough power in the 2.4L motor, It should have a 6 cylinder option.
