1996 Toyota RAV4 from North America

Summary:

Reliable, fun to drive, you can't go wrong with this vehicle

Faults:

Only had to recently replace the battery, that is all in over 5 years.

General Comments:

I have one the first models ever made, a 2 door with 4wd.

Great in the snow, ample room, sporty and cute.

The best car I have ever owned.

1996 Toyota RAV4 4-door 2.0 inline four from North America

Summary:

Typical Toyota reliability and features

Faults:

Absolutely nothing. I have never even been to the service department with this vehicle.

General Comments:

The RAV4 gets great gas mileage (25mpg) and uses no consumables (original brakes, tires, and wiper blades). I have yet to perform any unscheduled maintenance and even the timing belt isn't due for a change until 100,000 miles. Unbelievable reliability considering the abuse I put it through.

The off-road prowess of the vehicle was an unexpected surprise and the seats have yet to leave me wanting.

I will buy another Toyota when this one gets tired, and until then, I will continue to whip this one. This little truck has lived up to its reputation and continues to shine every single day.

1996 Toyota RAV4 GS 2.0 petrol from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Smart 4x4 with excellent performance

Faults:

Nothing of note.

General Comments:

Not very much boot space for a family of four. But with roof bars and a box there is more than enough luggage space for holidays.

Extremely quick off the mark and can break the ton barrier without trying. Bit heavy on juice on long trips though.

I think you're right about it being OK for a family of 4, I found the rear wheel arches encroached on the back seat space making it uncomfortable for the 5th passenger. overall great fun to drive and good in snow.

Hi, do you recommend it for an off road car? Because I'm thinking of buying one for the field, but do not know how they do off road?

Thanks.

1996 Toyota RAV4 LX 2.0 from UK and Ireland

Faults:

Minor probs. with elec. keys.....dealer not too helpful....condesending to my wife...usually results in early death !! (of dealer)

General Comments:

Excellent motor..reliable, safe, handles like a normal car...almost...despite being a 4*4 so safe in ice and snow.

All round GREAT.
