1996 Toyota Tercel Sport review from North America
"Lean, green, gas cost fighting machine!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Needed new tires - and rear drums.
General comments?
I bought this car when gas hit 1.50
I thought I would hate it - but deal with it.
I paid 2300 for it - and put a set of new tires and rear drums on it.
I *love* this car.
It's slow. Passing other vehicles must be calculated before execution. It has no bells and whistles.
Did I mention I love this car?
It saved me 300 dollars a MONTH on gas compared to my 3.8L V6 Oldsmobile.
THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS a month in fuel savings.
Besides the money I have saved - I find it actually pleasant to drive.
1.) The manual transmission is solid
2.) Fuel economy = excellent
3.) Cheap to operate
4.) Tires are dirt cheap
5.) Parts aren't that expensive - and you need less of them.
One thing to note: The valve seals tend to go over the years. They begin to burn oil.
Mine isn't burning a drop yet. Fingers crossed.
