1992 Vauxhall Nova Flair 1.2i from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Great first car

Faults:

Exhaust back box needed to be replaced.

Front brake disks and pads needed replacing.

Dash was damaged.

General Comments:

This has been a great first car.

Parts are dirt cheap to buy so not expensive to repair.

Its faster than I expected for the engine size.

The fuel consumption is great, you can get a half tank of petrol for £10 which lasts for ages.

The only downfall is that novas are getting long in the tooth and good examples are hard to find as most have been thrashed or eaten away by rust.

1992 Vauxhall Nova Vauxhall Diamond 1.2 from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Blue eyed baby, of a seventeen year old stalion

Faults:

Well apart from the minor rust on the right hand front wheel arch, For a H reg it's in really good nick.

The door lock seal's went the other day, but now that gives me an excuse to get it De-locked.

Inside the front bonnet there is a minute hole were rust has set in, but that will easily be fixed.

Ah yes and my drivers side seat doesn't lock down straight away and you have to use considerable force.

Also the clutch is squeaks when you depress it, and finally, I don't think this is a problem, but my boot squeaks when I lift it up.

General Comments:

The car is fitted with a piper-cross air filter and it sounds as sweet as honey, It also has a G. T racing exhaust that throws out the sweetest smell.

Because it's a diamond I had to fit a G.T.E bodykit and have it sprayed a lush Subaru blue. The interior is a bland caramel cover and I'm looking round for someone who can supply me with some interior spray paint.

It also has Revolution Front and Rear seat covers matching the exterior paintwork and it beholds ice blue oval fog lights and is lowered 5 Cm's, from standard factory setting too bad boy racer setting.

My latest purchase was my silver front grille, and my silver window screen wipers.

To say I'm only seventeen and this is my first car I don't think I have done bad at all.

Cheers Craig F.

1992 Vauxhall Nova Spin 1.2i from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Excellent little motor, cheap to run and looks good too

Faults:

Ran okay until the Engine Management warning light kept coming on! Vauxhall couldn't idenify the fault.

Auto electrician found the fault within hours, but at a cost as the distributor required replacing!

General Comments:

The overall reliability of the two Vauxall Nova's I have owned has been great, low insurance, road tax and servicing costs.

An excellent motor, shame they don't manufacture them any more!

The 1.2i is nippy for around town & most major roads, although it's not ideal for vast amounts of motorway driving!

1992 Vauxhall Nova Trip 1.2i from UK and Ireland

Summary:

An affordable car to get from A to B

Faults:

During the 1 year I've owned the car, the only thing to go wrong was the hand brake cables sticking, which resulted in a £100 bill from my Vauxhall dealer.

General Comments:

The updated version in 1991, is a far better car than my previous 1986 version, the dash is much better and the front end styling really improves the look of the car.

The 1.2i version only has 45 bhp and therefore is very slow when there's more than one person in the car. Very loud over 70 MPH, due to only a 4 speed gearbox. But the engine always starts first time, and is excellent to travel between A to B.
