Power steering pump replaced at 22,800 miles (however, should not have been replaced as not faulty, but 3 Vauxhall Main Dealers could not locate the fault that I was reporting!).
Steering column has just been replaced at 23,000 miles (This seemed to be the actual fault I had reported originally!).
Superb car to drive, 0-60 is extremely quick at under 7 seconds and pushing just under 200 BHP.
17" rims, tyres, and lowered suspension keep the car firmly on the road.
Electric Recaro seats are great comfort and support for longer journeys.
Plenty of boot space and interior space too.
What was the actual fault you found with the original steering column please? My 2000 Vectra's steering has a slight 'looseness' at times when coming out of full lock. I might have the column universal/knuckle joint problem?
Regarding steering play, I had the same symptoms as described with my GSi Estate.
Cause was worn track rod ends (at just 34000 miles)
These were replaced on monday, and the problem is solved.
My previous V6 SRi ('97) Estate also managed to eat its way through two steering column knuckle joints in the space of 50,000 miles, though the ('00) GSi has not had this problem.
/Steve.
Ref. my problems with the Steering/ride - The symptoms mainly were a more bumpy ride, every bump on the road seemed over defined. Also the steering wheel felt heavier. Had a lot of problems with main dealers locating fault - many said it was too technical for them which was quite worrying!!?? However, after much experimenting I found that if I raised the steering wheel adjustment it cured the problem - apparently this proved the joint was worn, main dealer then changed the column and it's like new again! It's nice to hear that other have similar problems too, I though it was me just being too fussy! hehehe, Steve.

Ref. Steering fault... Just thought I'd add that I also had the tracking adjusted. It hardly needed an adjustment but it was amazing how a slight change really improved the drive. From talking to people I find that because the GSI has a stiff ride on the road, it really has to be set up perfect to get the smoothest drive.
The Vectra GSi's 0-60 time is 7.6 seconds, so around a second slower than the Astra GSi.
RE: want to race me. Yeah OK in my 330 ci sport bmw. Why do people say wanna race? You think you have a fast car, but its very mild and only 1 or 0.5 of a second faster to 60 than a 2.0 focus!!! Remember when you writing these reviews that there's always going to be someone with a better car than you. Try to avoid saying its the best car ever or the fastest ever.

Getting a little upset 7th of april! but I totally agree to say the 330 ci is dissapointing is stupid. it's an amzing car.
..and this has got exactly what to do with a 2000 Vectra GSi?
I think its really stupid that people argue on hear about there cars, I mean, how easy is it to say you have a fast car, like kids, on hear some people come on hear for advice on there problems, and all you get is "my car does 0-60 in 4.5 etc etc, stop talking rubbish no body cares how fast your car is, typical stupid boy racers.
