"Easily broke into expensive to repair"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

It appears to be common knowledge to the criminal fraternity and Volkswagon alike that thier cars are very easily broken into.

Volkswagon cause more damage to the car (at your cost) repairing the damage.

Only main dealers are allowed by Volkswagon to sell the parts needed for said repair.

Main dealers do not carry the said parts in stock.

Approximate time needed to sauce said parts, two weeks.

Your vehicle remains unsecured for a period of approximately two weeks.

Volkswagon quote one day as time needed to carry out said repair. Which in actual fact takes two.

The total cost to you approximately £400.

General comments?

Prior to purchasing my vehicle I received reasonably good service from VW, since I have only experienced bad service wherever I've been.

Whenever I have had to purchase parts for my Golf I always feel completely ripped off.

I have always driven Volkswagon although my current car is up for sale. This shall be my last Volkswagon I will never buy one again.

Volkswagon product, service and brand name is no longer anything for anyone to be proud of.

It's common knowledge that you can open the central locking on a Golf by inserting a level through the drivers side window rubber seal. Mostly, you can't drive the car away because of the immobiliser. VW have known this for about 3 years and haven't changed the design.

The SE versions are slightly better than the S models because they have a better alarm system.

VW's attitude to this problem is disgraceful as it is to the other big known problems with the Mk4 Golf e.g. the tendency to pull to the left permanently and the coil problems on the 1.8 Turbo engine. Once you have got a Golf you are on your own. Caveat Emptor (buyer beware).

We're getting rid of our Golf this year because of a number of problems and general poor build quality. We were going to get a Passat, but the attitude of the dealers and Volkswagen UK was such that we're buying a Saab instead.

I bought my Passat TDI last year and have been happy with it. Two weeks ago I lost all power and was told that the Turbo may need changing, but really needed to bring it in to be assessed.

My local main dealer employs seemingly dozens of smartly dressed administrative staff and only a handful of technicians, it took me an hour before anyone spoke to me and then I waited another hour before leaving unattended to and angry.

I went to another main dealer in another town and was treated the same way. I sought the advice of a mechanic friend at home and found a leaking hose myself which I repaired for the princely sum of two pounds and without the assistance of a Volkswagon main dealer. Neither main dealer seemed at all interested in my plight although they are quite happy to take my money when servicing is due!

It is a shame because Volkswagon is a good Marque sadly let down by their UK Main Dealers.
