2000 Volkswagen Jetta GLX VR6 from North America

Summary:

I hope I never have to give it up!

Faults:

Check Engine light has been coming on lately. It says that it has to do with the Emissions.

Nothing else has happened since I've had the car.

General Comments:

This car is amazing! I really love it! Yes it's not dependable in the sense that certain things commonly break. However my Jetta always starts, never dies, and all the main important things always work. As well a lot of the fun bells and whistles work too.

Car is super comfy with gorgeous black leather interior, that still looks brand new!

Drives amazingly! I live in the mountains and going up the mountain I just push the petal and I am flying. It's such a smooth ride that you don't even realize that you're going so fast. My old car would lose speed going up the mountain. Now I have to be careful to not go too fast.

I can't wait to take a road trip with this car! I really love this car!

I still haven't figured out how to turn on the Air Conditioning yet. It's the new electronic climate control system, and there seems to not be a specific AC button. Still looking for it!

The trunk is huge! My husband is a musician and we fit guitars, drums, speakers, amps, etc in there with no problem!

The sound system is awesome! I like to turn up the radio really loud. It sounds great!

Awesome car! I would highly recommend it! I am blessed to have a Jetta!!

2000 Volkswagen Jetta GL 2.0 from North America

Summary:

All around good car

Faults:

Well when I got the car, it needed a timing belt, serpentine belt, tensioner, and 4 tires. Other than the above listed items, nothing else has gone wrong.

This Jetta was in a flood in Wyoming, but when properly dried out it makes a great car.

General Comments:

I love this car; it is by far the best car I have ever owned.

My previous cars were in order of acquirement:

1987 Camaro, 1989 Ford Ranger, 1990 Mazda 929, 1993 Nissan Altima, 1995 Honda Civic, 1982 Honda Accord, 1990 Nissan Truck, 1989 Mazda 323, 1998 Ford Explorer, 1995 Subaru Legacy, 2000 Volkswagen Jetta.

The jetta out performs even my Camaro, and it gets great gas mileage.

2000 Volkswagen Jetta GLX VR6 from North America

Summary:

Don't do it PLEASE

Faults:

OK, I love my car, mainly because of the way it looks and the attention I get from it.

I bought this VW Jetta, the car that I had been dreaming of for years and years. I got it used, 7 years old with 94,000 miles, but it's a Volkswagen so they run forever right!! Ha ha, I truly believed I had a great deal, one previous owner who had all the service records, the car is in pristine wonderful new condition, fully loaded VR6, everything I wanted and more. For a little under ten grand

All within three months of ownership.

Wheel bearings $300.

AC/heater blower $900.

New starter, $400.

New seat belt retractor $200.

Now my service man says I need front suspension work. I'm devastated.

Oh and the trunk won't open unless I use the key.

General Comments:

Despite all the bad stuff about my Jetta, I can't resist driving it. She handles amazingly on the highway, banging stock speakers. I love the blue lit dash at night, everything a 22 year old college student wants in a car right, and it's so so cute I love it, but I cringe everytime I hear a strange noise.

This is my first Volkswagen and I do have faith that they are good cars if you buy them new with a warranty, or buy a GTI or the diesel engine.

All in all I love my Jetta, but it's a major investment, so BUY it DRIVE it and get RID of it while it's still worth something...
