Rear Brakes and Rotors at 24,000 miles.

Windshield washer reservior cracked. Constant leaking.

Turn Signals stopped working at 35,000 miles.

Air-Bag control module burned out 2x - once at 15,000 and again at 30,000.

General Comments:

Too many problems. The worst thing is that its not the same problem - it's a different thing every time. What makes it worse is the customer service. Probably the worst of any car manufacturer.

I will never buy another Volkswagen again. I'm grateful that the lease is up in a few months.

2000 Volkswagen Jetta GLS from North America

Summary:

Fun, but dangerous, and expensive to maintain

Faults:

My car burns at least a quart of oil every two weeks.

The check engine light has been on for a year now, just found out that the culprit is a faulty oxygen flow sensor.

The passenger side window has fallen down into the door twice and had to be repaired both times.

The left brake light has gone out 3 times and the right brake light at least one time. Conveniently I just found that both brake lights were out after someone rear-ended me.

The front bumper is very low to the ground and has become detached from the car body three times. As a result of this, part of the bumper flew off the car while I was driving down the highway, got stuck in the undercarriage, and forced us to pull over in busy traffic to un-stick it.

Grease has leaked out below the passenger side door since the car was new.

The cup holder has been replaced once and is currently it will not close properly.

The rear ashtray will not close.

The front armrest latch is broken.

The temperature gauge is broken.

General Comments:

This car is fun to drive, has great acceleration, and gets good mileage.

The problems with this car have been more than a headache, as it seems every month or so I have to take it in for repairs -- the cost and the inconvenience are just not worth it.

The problems with the brake lights as well as the bumper falling off are extremely dangerous.

2000 Volkswagen Jetta GLS VR6 from North America

Summary:

Absolutely Superior Car

Faults:

Glove compartment support broke at 26,000 miles.

Center console latch cracked around 26,000 miles too.

Both windows fell into doors, but were free to replace and work perfectly well.

Shift/Brake release failed at 51,000 miles, but was also free to replace.

General Comments:

This car has been an incredible investment I am a Volkswagen believer.

The VR6 engine absolutely rocks. It outperforms and accelerates my friends 2003 Nissan Maxima.

Interior is cool in the summer and heated seats rule in the winter!

I have babied my car and only put Chevron premium gasoline in it and used only synthetic oil after 24,000 miles. It's treated me very well in return.

It has had it's share of problems, but the service depot in my town has been fast and friendly- and 90% of the problems were free to fix.

2000 Volkswagen Jetta GLS VR6 from North America

Summary:

Great car and fun to drive

Faults:

My check engine light came on at 30,000 miles because of faulty oxygen sensors. It was covered under warranty.

Just recently at about 50,000 miles, the car has started stalling and chugging at start up, mainly after it has rain or while it's raining. I don't know what this is, plus I'm scared to take it to the dealership. I don't want to hear I have to pay a million bucks to get it fixed. The car is no longer under warranty.

General Comments:

This car is very fast with good pick up.

I have been satisfied with the car since I got it.

This car comes with many standard features other that other don't.
