1991 Volkswagen Jetta Multi Fuel review from North America
"Cheap construction entry into multi-fuel market"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Fuel pump had to be replaced twice.
Front bumper fell off.
Great difference in performance attitude depending on type of fuel.
Hard to find places to fill up with methanol.
Buzzy engine. Seems to work too hard, but revs high too.
Car is built cheaply. Has that "Tin Can" feel.
Separate shoulder and lap belts.
Lettering on vehicle is not very attractive. It is a big advertisement for methanol or multi-fuel.
General comments?
Good power when using methanol (102 octane).
Nice stereo/cassette and speakers.
Good air conditioner.
Handles pretty well.
Seats 5 adults pretty well.
Hard to lock oneself out. must use key to lock drivers door.
