If you don't know how to spell "Volkswagen", I doubt if you really own one.
I could not believe it when I read all the above comments. They all are describing my Jetta that I've grown to hate. I too have had problems with VW service at dealerships and over the phone. When I told them I will never buy another VW in my life they did not seem to care. I told them my friends and family would not buy one per my recommendation, again they didn't care. I've never owned a vehicle this poorly made, how VW stays in business is a mystery to me.
I'm the original owner of a 2001 VW Jetta and have had the same problems! My window has gone out and the interior in peeling excessively. Other problems related to brake light switch and shifter have also been experienced. Overall disappointment in quality.
I have a 2001 Jetta Wolfsburg. Have had all the above problems except the clutch. If I can get the check engine light to stay off between repairs this piece of junk is going to be sold.
I am the original owner of a 2003 VW Jetta. It has 38,000 miles and has been nothing but a rolling headache for me. The plastic components are extremely cheap. I have had to replace the console latch twice, along with a cracked washer fluid tank and 3 broken snaps on my monster mats. A string of electrical problems in 2005 left me stranded unable to start the vehicle 19 times. Volkswagen would not take the car back. Now, the bottom of all of the doors are dripping grease. I was told that this is normal and that all cars do this. I have owned two other VW's and will never purchase one again.
Its almost 2008, and my 2001 Wolfsburg jetta just pushed 80k miles. I'm finding problems with power steering, and the front brakes are starting to give. Otherwise, the front windows freak out sometimes, every vent has at least one break on it, there is a tear all the way up the drivers seat, and the heated seat on the drivers side doesn't work. I still like its industrial look, black on black, so I don't mind it getting old.
