This car has had no problems at all we have replaced the wipers the tires and have serviced it at all required times.
Best car I have ever owned.
I have a pre-owned 1994 VOLVO Turbo. I am the owner number three. My 1994 Turbo Volvo was 6 years old when I bought it. Now it has 14 years and it is one of my best friends. I named it "Chico" and the color is antique white and leather gray in the interiors. I will like to recommend to anyone who wants a new car, to try a pre-owned VOLVO. If you are looking for security to yourself and the one you love, if you are looking for loyalty and trust, and if you are also looking for excellent service at a minimum maintenance costs, try a pre-owned 1994 Turbo VOLVO. You will never going to take it away from your heart and surely your new friend will become a family member for generations. Thank you. My name is Dally and I live in San Juan Puerto Rico betacampr@yahoo.com.
I'm the second owner of a 1994 Volvo 940 Turbo sedan, and I bought it when it was 14 years old with only 132,000 miles on the odometer. It was apparently garage-kept most of its previous life, and serviced only by the dealer for the first 10 or 12 years. Lucky me! Even if I'd had the cash for a new car, I would consider this a better purchase (I paid less than $3,000 in 2008).
It's a great car, sturdy and powerful, and my experience has been good except for a very few problems caused by people who serviced it previously without knowing what they were doing. The kickdown cable for the AW-71 automatic transmission was poorly adjusted, which resulted in poor fuel economy and very aggressive shifting. I was able to fix that easily myself after learning how it worked. I also replaced the original power antenna mast myself; the aftermarket part cost less than $20, and it was well worth it.
This engine (B230FT, and its non-turbo sibling the B230F) is widely regarded as bullet-proof. Change oil, filters and belts on a regular schedule, and it will last a very long time. When I bought it, well tuned except for the kickdown cable on the transmission, I could eke out about 17-18 mpg. Now I get a fairly consistent 20 mpg. I don't think I'll ever do better than about 23 mpg with this car, but I'm working in that direction.
Volvos have some unique qualities, and in my experience the average local mechanic doesn't know or care enough to figure them out. I'd strongly recommend finding a good independent mechanic with Volvo expertise, but these cars are made in such a way that any reasonably intelligent owner can do a lot of the normal maintenance. I would have been less willing to buy this car if I did not know of a good local shop to service it when the job is more than I can handle.
