"Solid, reliable, but thirsty"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Had the AA out to add a leak sealer to a leaking water pump gasket. Otherwise, just general service/maintenance repairs/tyres.

General comments?

Excellent for room with 7 comfy seats.

Solid as a rock and very reliable.

This car will go where others can't.

The one and only bad thing is it can drink diesel 18/gal.

Great handling, still like new bodywork, waxoiled.

I'm about to part ex her for a Skoda Octavia 2.0 estate, and I am still having doubts. It's only for the fuel benefits. It's been such a good motor, and I honestly will cry on the day.

Did try bio-diesel, but it's as much as diesel now.

Even the wife doesn't want this car to go.

Last winter I towed a scouts minibus and fully loaded trailer out of the Staffordshire moors in snow - no problems. Great in 4x4 in winter.

Hi I also have a bighorn 3.1 auto. has been very good for me as well. the kickdown problem on these motors is down to the tps unit (throttle position senser) this tells the ecu what gear the box should be in. the track in the tps wears out which then tells the ecu that you are kicking down when you are not. The unit has an adjustment on the top with 2 screws that lock the adjuster in place. If you loosen the screw and turn the adjuster anticlockwise this will improve things. The new unit can be found for £200 and it is not difficult to fit yourself. the tps unit can be found on the left and just below the egr valves that are bolted to the intake manifold (near side of engine bay if your in the uk) also the fuel tank lines rust on top of the tank and let air into the fuel line which can cause stalling and bad running. when you're there check the insides of the chassis rails by the tank (rust trap!) oh and the water needs to be flushed every 2 years coz the rads block and rust from the inside out which can make the motor overheat. change the rad and t stat and this will solve the problem. (rad £100 + vat) oil change every 5000 miles and she won't let you down. isuzu trooper owners club has all the answers if you are stuck.
