"Spacious, but too many faults for a new car"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

My hand brake failed and 20 minutes later it rolled into another car. My rear bumper was all dented. Honda didn't acknowledge the fault.

The seals on the doors were faulty and my back seats were saturated. They knew there was a seal problem, but didn't contact me.

General comments?

This car is very spacious, and easy to handle.

However the car is terrible for condensation. I'm assuming this was because of the door seals going. The windows are still always steamed up, even though the seals were replaced & the car dried out.

I'm disappointed they won't acknowledge the hand brake fault. The only advise I was given was to keep it in gear in future, & put it on an extra notch.

I find that unacceptable for a car that was only 6 months old at the time. I now have to get the repair done prior to my lease expiring in March. It's put me off another Honda.

I've heard the 2005 Civics are being recalled because of the hand brake failing.

Oh my God! Not a problem on a Honda - I thought ALL Hondas were perfect!

I agree with that last comment; the way some boy racers go on about their old Civics on here is unbelievable. They would have you believe that Honda is the ultimate form of technology.

That is a common sight on the Jazz. I cheacked to see if other owners have had problems with leaks and steamed up windows and many have. I don't know about the handbrake issue, but I would also be completely put off a new car with either issue. I drive an old Hyundai and would be upset if it leaked.

With the arrival of a new baby the Honda Jazz Sport was the obvious choice. Apart from 2 faults the car has been great. The handbrake is useless so we always have to leave it in gear when parked. Despite returning it to the dealer within the first week and expressing serious concerns they said it was OK. The other fault is steamy windows. It takes an absolute age to demist and therefore dangerous if you don't sit and wait 10 minutes for it to clear. Again Honda said this was normal. Overall great family car spoilt by niggly, but dangerous faults that Honda say don't exist!

You must be unlucky! Don't do the lottery - you have no chance of the jackpot if you got a faulty Jazz! We've had ours for 3.5 years and 36,000 miles. We have had no problems with the car at all - other than someone crashing into it in a car park and driving off! Not the cars fault though.

The pollen filter can cause the car to steam up - that is a problem with many modern cars. The remedy is to turn on the air conditioning (assuming you have it). Failing that, remove the pollen filter which is located behind the glove box (4 screws) and chuck it away.

Our Jazz is brilliant. Does everything asked of it, including a 500 mile journey with 2 kids in the back getting 50+mpg on the motorway. We have no plans to get rid of this car even though it's 4 years old now.

I would agree with the post on 7th May - you really must have been unlucky. Yet another survey out this week, that puts the Jazz 2nd for driver satisfaction in the UK (beaten only by the Toyota Prius). We have a 3 year old Jazz (and 4 year old CRV) and it has behaved perfectly. I will admit the handbrake isn't the best, and does need to be applied with care, but then I was taught to never rely on the handbrake - I have passed the advanced driving test (Institute of Advanced Motorists) and when taking tuition, was always told to leave the car in gear when parked.
