"FORD... king of the junk vehicles!!!"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

JUNK!!!

Hubs, battery, O2 sensors, engine misfires, clogged injectors, door jam indicators, power windows, heads... yes these are all things that went bad in 5 months. Buy a Ford and this is what you have to look forward too. Buy foreign stuff, much more reliable.

General comments?

I like to buy American cars (used too), but this is my 4th Ford, and all of them were junk. TOTAL JUNK, if it can go wrong, it will go wrong on a Ford. Try a Toyota or Hyundai, much better!!!

I have great luck with Ford Rangers, and Ford in general. I know many people that own foreign trucks such as a Toyota or "toy" as I call it because they are little pieces of crap.

I have a 95' Ranger with 70K. My Truck has had a few problems, including "Weird" electrical stuff, like wipers that start for no reason, and the "door open" chime for no reason...

Other then that, I have never had this vehicle leave me stranded. I am very much impressed with the 95' Ranger.

My 1995 Ford Ranger is still running strong, as it approaches its 7th year of service. So far, the O2 sensor is the only failing part. I've averaged around 15K miles per year.

I've had my Ranger since it left the dealers lot and it has never let me down. The engine is still running strong at 103,000 and I haven't had any problems with the transmission. The only thing that has been fixed was a bent drive-shaft when I first bought it.

Hey all,

I have had a 95 Ranger, XLT, lo these many years and it has never failed...to frustrate me with the door chime / dome light thing that I am seeing so much of. Granted, the 121,000 miles that are on my little champagne colored beauty have been perfection "en machina." I just got around to replacing the shocks (the originals) a few thousand miles ago and the battery is still cranking well (its original too) even after these many years in the Northeast. The electrical problems that I have experienced since I drove the truck out of its home state of California that first year have been nothing short of amazing. I have no indicator for speed control. If by some chance I feel like totally clearing all the pre-sets on my JBL six speaker etcetera, I only have to forget to turn off both the wipers and the headlights before turning the ignition off. (NY is a wipers on -lights on state) When I first reported the chiming problem, to no less than three dealers, I was informed that there was pretty much nothing they could do. Since I am a person of immense patience, I quietly abided and endured the indignity of having my ears 'ding-ed' for the short amount of time that it USED to happen for. Since the symptom only occurred when the truck was left in the glaring sun during the oppressive heat of Summer, I assumed that it was in protestation for my thoughtlessness. Only recently has the door chime thing really started to kick in ringing for the entirety of a two hour drive --in the cool of dusk and in the rain too. Lately, it has started ringing even in the cool of the evening and many times I have left my little wheat colored transport sitting in the driveway at night -a beacon to all --until the auto-light-off timer expired (14 min. if I remember.) Recently I have had to replace the sending unit/ fuel pump assembly, but otherwise the miles have been great. The dealer that sold me the truck --a different story (Zumwalt Ford, I have my eye out for you) And, I certainly have gotten more miles from my trusty little mocha-mobile than I was allowed from the Mercury Cougar that preceeded it. My Cougar's falling prey to a "FLUKE" (Fluke was used by Ford repair-persons in Califorina, Utah, and New York)occurrence with a valve lifter, a pin bearing, and a grooved cam shaft would not have been so bad except for the two and a half thousand dollars that the afore mentioned dealer wanted to charge me, the misrouting of my part to Los Angeles, the two weeks that it took to get that part up to Napa, Ca., the joker who I allowed myself to purchase the truck from giving me such a hard time with the Ford purchasing plan that I was elegible for, AND the nice people I met in a near by supermarket that told me that the reason that they bought the snazzy new Mustang I was admiring was that one of the lifters had lost a pin bearing and grooved the camshaft of their Taurus. Fluke indeed.

Wtf are you talking about rangers are the most reliable truck out there. my old one had 144k on it and it was still going strong and the dealer gave me 2500 as a trade. The one I have now has 100k and the only thing wrong with it is the hubs for 4x4 are shot, but that's common on any vehicle.

I am only 16 years of age, but I know a crape truck from a good truck, and my 95 Ford Ranger kicks a$$! It's a very strong, dependable truck. I have 130,00 miles on it and its running very good. The only problem it has it the transmission, but all I have to do is put the gears one back and I am fine! If you want a truck, Ford Ranger should be your choice, I love my beast, and you'll love one too. GO BUY ONE!!

246,000 miles, second engine and this truck rocks!! 95 Ford Ranger xlt extra cab. Changed the shocks about 15,000 miles ago. K&N air filter element, new tires every year and that's about the whole story. I actually love this truck so much that I plan on lifting it and doing more mods to it such as a lift kit, larger tires and some engine upgrades as this is an every day real life work truck!! Not some puny little thing claiming to be the best. One problem though:Door chime!! Later!

If the other three were junk, why keep buying one. If you keep up on maintenance, it would not have these problems.

I have a 2001 Ranger Edge 4WD extended cab 3.0 liter automatic. This car is one of the worst I have ever owned.

At 75K the drivers electric mirror stopped working. Shortly after getting it fixed, the electric lock switches would not unlock the doors; only lock them. I had to use the key fob.

The windshield wipers would stop in the middle of the window and then go back to a resting position. I replaced both wiper relays and it fixed the problem for about 1 year. Now it's happening again.

My transmission is shifting hard and the OD off light keeps coming on.

The door ajar light keeps lighting up even though all doors are closed.

For a 3.0 litre engine it is very slow and terrible on gas. Usually it's one or the other. With this truck it's both!

The rear door on the passenger side is stuck and will not open.

Body rust is happening and the truck is only 5 years old.

Next time I will purchase a Toyota or Chevy pickup.

I have a 2000 red ranger, that I love! It has 140,000 miles on it and it drives fine. I've done all required maintenance and have been rewarded with a great vehicle, in return.

I had a 95 Ranger XLT Longbed that I beat the crap out of. It had the same problem with the door chime and the light, but I didn't let it bother me. I just removed the little dinger, so the noise went away :). It is just a little disk type speaker that you can unplug. The dome light didn't have a bulb, so it didn't bother me. I bought it with 60K and totaled it at 125k. Cost to much to fix, according to insurance. I actually drove away from the accident. I miss it everyday and am wanting another.

I bought my 94 Ranger new. The hubs have been junk since day 1 and Ford did nothing about it. I have even replaced them with manual hubs and still have the same problems. Other than that and the fact I only get 10-12 mpg, it's been a good running truck.
