"Pathetically slow and shoddy"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

I have had the car for a year and I have had several problems such as splitting on the rear bumpers which cost me over £500 to repair. The seats are to be honest absolute crap they are becoming very baggy and starting to tear. The engine is desperatly under powered for a 1.8 and is very slow the car is claimed to do over 120 but I carnt push it passed 95. The cabin is also very noisy and whistles at high speeds and a strong draft comes through the doors. It is shoddy workmanship for what I payed I was expecting a car as good as my last one. I have totally lost hope in this car. Now there is a new one out this one looks really old and dated the interior is so shoddy and it looks like a car from the ice age. Sorry Honda your cars are junk.

General comments?

This car is an out burst of intreging reprisal and I cannot state more clearly how pathetic this car is it carnt stand a chance against the likes of Mercedes and BMW. It is slow under powered, awfully built and is now starting to show its age as an old mans car like the Rover 800.

First of all you shouldn't even be trying

to do 95 mph in it 70 is the top legal limit!!

Secondly by the sounds of it you have been unlucky

and bought a lemon 99% of Hondas (and other makers

this doesn't just apply to honda) are well built and an absolute joy to drive especially vtec or i-vtec engines

they enjoy a good work out

I am on my 3 honda and considering the new Accord

8 yrs and apart from a dodgy battery my cars have been

totally reliable!!

What a pity you have had so many problems

but don't let this one car put you off the brand

you could just as easily have the same problems

with a ford or vw etc.

This review sounds like a wind up to me, probably a Renault, Fiat or Citroen owner.

My Honda Accord will do 90mph in 3rd, some people don't realise you have to rev the nuts off these engines to get the best out of them, as for saggy seats, and ice age interior... are we talking about the same car? I think the seats are firm and supportive and the interior ergonomically perfect.

Yes, all the perfomance is in the VTEC Zone - if you can only get 95 out of it, then you've got the handbrake on.

Had a prelude, then bought an accord, 120k miles on the prelude and my pre M.O.T. was a service and change a rear bulb, it was even on its original brake pads. I have to say that the accord had a lot to live up to and it has! Go Honda and sell that French car in disguise.

I love my Honda, no-matter what may be said, the car is balanced, it can stand up to any car on the road and it really is a good family car. I had one problem though with mine, the Oxygen sensor or what they call the Lambdar sensor. It s a small part of the car, but its awfully expensive and can cause you to fail an MOT because of carbon dioxide emissions.

I had a Honda Accord 1.8 vtec for three months. (wrote it off!) Engine was an excellent performer - was best bit of the car and it handled well. Fuel economy was not good - averaging about 27mpg. I have had large engined BMWs before and since and they are much more economical. The fit and finish is above the Mondeo/Vectra standard, but relative to a BM or Audi, is not quite there and it is noisier. It felt a bit 'tinny' and there was the odd trim rattle. Also, the stereo was total and utter crap. Finally, at 6'2", I found that the drivers seat did not go back far enough and the brakes were spongy.

Mine is the 1.8 and has hit 130 numerous times and will sit at 100 all day if it had to. It's quite simple: you wanna go faster... just floor it right to the top of the rev band in each gear!

The interior is great, well designed and ergonomic. It may look old on the exterior, but then it's been updated three times since!
