1993 Cadillac Allante 4.6L from North America

Summary:

Unbeatable value considering its sophistication vs. its current market price

Faults:

The Compact Disc player wasn't registering CDs when I took ownership. I replaced the player with an upgraded player for $225.

General Comments:

Its obvious that this car has been taken care of well by its two previous owners.

Mechanically it appears to perform as originally designed. There have been no mechanical system failures.

Electronically its in A-1 condition. Every electrical circuit, relay, switch or component seems to operate as designed.

It appears Cadillac made some significant changes to the late '93 model enhancing its reliability and serviceability.

The car is Pearl white with Maroon interior and top. The Maroon convertible top was only factory installed on the 1993 Allante.

Some of the features this vehicle offers that have impressed me most are its color and paint quality, the quality of material used for the top's exterior, its exceptional performance and handling, the sophisticated operation of its computer system and diagnostic readouts and controls, its incomparable grand interior roominess considering it is a two-seat sports car and its typical Cadillac leather seating comfort.

I cannot rave enough about Cadillac's 1993 Allante.

1993 Cadillac Allante Northstar from North America

Summary:

The 1993 Allante is an electronic disaster

Faults:

The rear pull-down top motor had to be replaced.

The passenger side 'quick down' window regulator was replaced.

The automatic 'up-down' radio aerial motor was replaced.

The crankshaft sensor and MAP sensor were replaced.

The fourth range up-shift solenoid kit and attendant computer chip had to be replaced. Dealer on first try failed this installation completely!

The drive train computer had to be replaced.

The CD read head no longer works. This is a $600.00 plus repair.

The vehicle has inexplicably 'gone dead' two times and had to be trucked into the dealer for service.

The leather outer edge on the driver's side is abraded and unsightly.

General Comments:

This vehicle is a liability and I am earnestly in process to get rid of it.

Cadillac Division of General Motors deserves a huge expletive for allowing this machine to be sold.

I will never buy another Cadillac Division automobile...ever.

What is your VIN? I want to be sure I don't buy what apparently is a lemon. Thanks.

I'm sorry to hear about your lemon of a car, but if I may ask, how well did the original owner maintain it? I've been wanting one of those cars, and from what I've seen, if they're well taken care of, they're perfectly reliable.

1993 Cadillac Allante from North America

Summary:

This car is going to be a valuable collectible in the future

Faults:

Small oil leak.

General Comments:

This car is timeless. The body designed and built by Pinafarina in Italy is an art form in itself. The engine (Northstar) is the best engine ever made. The car handles like a true sports car with power to spare and handling as good as any European sports car on the road.

As a collector I'm finding that it's hard to keep the miles off this vehicle. It seems to be my car of choice on a warm sunny day. I get thumbs up no matter where I drive it.

There are a few things I would have liked to see changed, one to mention is the turn signal arm, looks like Cadillac got them from Fiat. Every other appointment on the car is first class.

I have a 1989 Pearl White Allante'. I am a previous owner of a Red Ferrari 308 GT4 and a Black Corvette. She can give them both a run for their money. This car has given me more pleasure and turns more heads than the two put together. So, far, I have replaced the speakers and drivers side window switch. It has 116000 miles and I expect to go another 100000 miles before I get tired of it and get a 1993 with a Northstar engine.
