1987 Lancia Y10 Fila from UK and Ireland - Comments

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Nothing so far, though I have recently noticed that the oil is rather watery, which suggests cylinder head gasket failure.

Oh and I replaced the seats as the fabric was badly torn.

General comments?

Very good first time car.

It only cost £150 so excellent value.

You are very lucky to have found a 16-year old car with 47,000 miles for 150 quid. My Y10 is a 1989 1.0 fila, I've done 225,000 km with it and although handling and grip has deteriorated in recent years (have not been able to find out why), I never had any mechanical problems, nor rust (but I live in Greece). Of course some of the interior plastic trim has fallen off and the driver's seat was also worn, but these are easily fixed. In the past 5 years I don't use it much (I use it as a second city car to drive around Athens only) and my last regular service was almost 3 years ago (but just 6,500 km back), but it never complains.

Nick.
