Nothing.
The Toyota 20v engine seems to operate similar to Honda's V-tec, for those that are familiar with those.
Drives like any other quick, small car up to about 5-6000rpm. From there up the whole engine sound changes and you get some real performance.
Extremly good handling for the money.
This car is faster than the 1600cc vtec Honda, but not as quick as the SIR Integra (1800cc V-tec)
Faster Than a DOHC V-Tec Civic?? Sir Civic?? Doubt it..
Actually the BZ-G/BZ-R are faster than the Civic SiR in a straight line because of the gear ratios being so short it gives for better acceleration from a standstill. However on a track it could be anyone's race as a result of driver skill, but whatever the outcome it'll be very close.
The Toyota 20V is a lot quicker than the XSI / SiR Integra's at higher speeds, and marginally quicker down low.
Good engine; but they seem to consume oil for no apparent reason & blow 'black' smoke at higher RPM due to the ECU running the engine rich to protect the engine. VVT Pulley's are generally quite noisy and the gearbox lacks the precision you would expect in a sportier car.
Very lacking at low RPM and it could do with a lot more torque availible at lower RPM.
Overall a good car, great value for money.
I've owned both a 20 Valve Levin and a SiR Civic, both factory standard and the Civic is definitely quicker. The Civic would do 0-100 in just under 8 seconds and nearly 9 for the Levin. The civic loves to run to the red line and sounds great, however the Levin fades at high revs. Both are great cars though and virtually bulletproof, buy one!
I have had a BzG Levin for the past year now tis a 97 thy are great cars I havnt lost a race yet.. Comparing it to the 92 GT Apex levin I would say the BzG is a far better car, Hondas are no match...
