Nothing!
Apart from the fact the car is totally uncontrollable in snow!
Even with (well run in) P zeros!
And the VSC is quite useless!
Winter 2001 in a November snow storm, the AA had to toe me home due to how uncontrollable the car became.
When I had the car checked over by Lexus (who charged £130) they stated the cars had handling problems in the wet and snow, which would be corrected in the next model (I have the letter from Lexus stating this)
Do all Lexus cars Have the same problem. As I'm looking to change my x5 (i grow tried of German cars) and the LS400 has always looked good to me.
I've had M3's,330ci Convertible, Clk Convertible, and a x5. But the car most fitting for my family was the Gs300 sport.
It was silver with beige interior.
Why could it not have better handling. Its such a shame.
P Zeros are the worst possible tires to have on any car while driving in snow. They are Summer Performance tires, meaning the tread pattern is designed for maximum grip on dry roads. *Any* car (probably *Every* car) is going to perform very poorly in wet/snowy/icy conditions with those tires mounted.
Your comments are hard to take seriously considering you obviously do not know what you are talking about.
I concur with 10:52. High Performance tire is bad in snow even on FWD or AWD car, let alone a RWD Lexus GS. Get you a set of snow tires next winter and you should see an improvement. Also, due to the fact that the GS is RWD, you should put a couple sand bags in the trunk as close to the drive axle as you can to get more grip in snow.
If you put the PZero in a BMW 5-series, you will get the very same result in snow. The fault lies not with the car, but the tires.
Additionally, you're not supposed to be surveying the TIRES, but the CAR. and at the top it says "what has gone wrong with the car: Nothing" yet you put a big fat frowny face on this nice car.
:p.

I left the comments many years ago ant they still hold true.
You both seem to have very limited knowledge of performance cars and tyres.
My M3 had BStone S0 2’s on the back and GYear F1’s on the front I never had a problem driving the car in the rain etc.
As I stated in the article the car was uncontrollable in snow on the motorway that night the two other cars (1998 Vectra GSI and 1994 M5) had no problems reaching 30+mph while I could barely get over 20 without the car spinning out. The VSC is the worst stabilizing/brake management system I have ever encountered and I have own over 39 cars since 1995. My current 2003 M5 is a joy to drive it has PZeros’ on the rear and F1’s up front and I have never spun out.
So before you open your mouths buy, borrow or rent the Mk 2 GS300 sport and take a couple of medium corners in the wet, and see how useless the car is in adverse weather.
Additional, The car is not well balanced this is why any tyre on the car would have the near-enough the same outcome. As If you put high heals on Carl Lewis and you had the best running shoes in the world, he would still beat you to the 100m finish line! Same principal.
Just try running in high heels sometime and you won't make that kind of argument!!

I owned a Mk2 GS300 Sport for 2.5 years. I put Eagle F1s all round, and the car was fine in adverse weather. OK, snow was treacherous but the VSC works fine. In the rain, it felt very sure footed, the GS chassis is well balanced. You must have something wrong with yours if the VSC is kicking in that much. I've hardly ever had the VSC kick in, and I drive pretty fast.
Oh, I went on to put coilovers, chassis braces and stiffer anti roll bars on the car. Let's just say it sticks to bends now!
