The alternator went at 134,000.

The fuel filter is hard to reach making it expensive to replace.

All electronics work after 134,000 of use.

Car handles great in the snow for a rear wheel drive car.

Car design is superb.

Thank you for this page. It is the first I have found that actually admitted a 1993 Mazda 929 existed! I need to know where the fuel filter and fuel pump are so my non-Mazda mechanic friend can fix mine for me.

I liked the car, but my car seem to have lots of parts wear out over a very short period of time and parts are quite rare and outrageously expensive. Resale value of 1993 Mazda 929 in good condition is almost nothing. I cannot recommend. Disadvantages outweigh any perceived advantages.

With my experience, all four door panels have cracked right down the middle of the door. Also, the fuel pump went at 109, 000 miles. I just bought a 1993 Mazda 929, and have been happy with my purchase. The engine is strong, dependable and gives me a sense of comfort as well as safety.

Keep waiting just a little while longer... keep restoring, upgrading, maintaining and keeping those cars running and looking hot! Drive very, very carefully to avoid collisions, since the auto insurance companies don't consider this car of any special value if it needs major repair after an accident.

I'm betting on our having a very valuable ($$$) Import "Classic" by 2008. The current (lousy) Book Value for this car will begin to increase, and someday, someone will profile this car in "Robb Report" Magazine.

My 1993 Mazda 929 has had some difficulties electrically I guess. My battery keeps dying on me. I don't really care for this issue I only use the car in the summer I bought the car with about 200000 miles in Maryland and brought it up to Maine. Most people up hear have no clue what a 929 is apparently which is pretty cool because I feel like I am driving a classic or something maybe one day it will be. Right now it is somewhat of a project for me I am still fixing a couple of minor issues. Other than that the car runs like new. Engine is great and the transmission shifts smooth.

My daughter has a '93 929, which was previously a one-owner car owned by her aunt who put about 63k miles on it, and gifted to my daughter when she got her driver's license 2 1/2 years ago, and her aunt bought a new Chrysler 300. The car is nearly perfect except for some problems with the trim coming off the door panels, visors, and posts on the windshield, and a few dings on the exterior. We are in the process of gluing the trim back on. We've recently put new tires and rims on it and new shocks. She loves this car and we've taken it on a few road trips, leaving our new Nissan Pathfinder at home. It's very comfortable on the highway. She's in college now and drives it home often - about 370 miles r/t. Never had a problem, knock on wood. We maintain a AAA membership for her, but haven't had to use it.
