A loose nut on the radiator fan caused the car to overheat and I had to return to the dealer within an hour of the purchase to get it fixed.
The rear shocks squeak a lot, especially after rain.
The horn stopped working because of a broken connection.
Water from the A/C dripped inside the car because of wrongly installed rubber vent pipe.
The tappet cover gasket started leaking after the first month and had to be replaced.
Road handling is excellent specially on crowded roads.
Lack of servo brakes demands a lot of leg power to stop the car.
Very uncomfortable seats.
Cramped interior.
Dim warning/control lights. It is hard to identify whether or not AC switch is pressed or depressed, especially in daylight.
Yes I would definately agree with the previous posts. Suzuki does have a cheap manufacturing concept running from the past many years. Mehran is its one example. U can see the visible difference b/w the manufacturing of a mehran and Cuore. Cuore is much more comfortable, reliable and stable car.
Mehran make you feel ur ridin in a fish tin...hehehehe
Suzuki sucks...
I also agree to the above given comments.
I got this limited edition car and from day 1 I have not been satisfied with its performance. Its air conditioner is just not enough for 1 person. Its interior finishing is crap and I doubt if the car was manufactured by the showroom people and not the company. Its wiring is so crappy that once I got an mp3 player installed, its headlight burned out 2 times then the back light, brake light, the deck fuse again,, and so on...!! Till now there have been major problems with the shock absorbers, engine mounting, gasket and more...
Even if you handle it with care, like I do an engine oil replacement after every 2000km, no driving on trash roads, no major or minor accidents, never punctured a tire etc, even with very cheap priced parts, it is not less than a burden to me.
Bought: April 2004
Mileage: 19000km.
Hi all,
After going through all the posts on this page what I have come to realize is that people are pretty annoyed with the Suzuki Mehrans and the Pak Suzuki Ltd..they are very right when they do a thing like this.I have a Suzuki Mehran 1991 Model,my experience is so far very good,I mean I am satisfied with my car, but after some modifications like induction of Servo Brake Cylinders, 11 Plate 43 Amp Battery, Imported Seat Belts (Motorised),Three Leaf rear Suspension (Kamani),Remodified seats etc and many other minor upgradations...But the question that I just want to raise here is if I can upgrade it with a few thousand rupees why can't Pak Suzuki do the same and the costs for them will be far lower than what I had to incur.
In the manufacturing the point is made for the seat belts, but it is plugged, similarly for servo brakes the point for pressure is there, but plugged..Does Pak Suzuki want it's customers to do their job instead..

In the year 1997 I came from Yemen and planned to buy a car, relatives told me to buy a mehran, and the day I bought a Mehran hell got loose, everything in the car looked like a toy car. After a year everything in the car started to make noise I had to fix the things again and again, especially the tuning of the car engine, you can never tune this car's engine. And the body of this car is like a sheet of paper, once my friend sat on the bonnet of the car, I couldn't believe the bonnet had the butt print on it. I have a lot to say about Mehran cars, but the most plesent thing is that I just sold the car and bought a Japanese made car. Love and Peace to all.bye from Raza.
Boy do I agree with the above poster!! I'm 6 feet tall and I had to drive my Mehran like I was sitting on the pot! I hated the engine and transmission, and of course the quality of materials with which this tin can is built. The engine is wheezy and the brakes will scare you! The seats are so flat that you can fall outta them in a parking lot... let alone while cornering. Besides all this jabber (to be fair to the tin can) there are some pluses as well:
1. Residuals for this car are excellent. I sold mine making Rs 5000 profit.
2. Fuel economy is excellent given its pathetic small motor.
3. Spares are super cheap. You can practically build your own car from the spares availible in the market.
4. It's never gonna die. Suzuki is making too much money out of it.
Alternatives:
1. Walk
2. Run
3. Sit home and don't go out at all
I am quite amazed when I went with my friend for the delivery of the new Mehran (VXR CNG) price 395000Rs. When we drove it, its shocks started making noise on a bumpy road. The showroom people told us that it will get right after some days. But now after 3 months, there are so many noises that my friend has forgotten the initial ones. It's amazing that Suzuki has not offered a new model since 1989.
I think that current Mehran is lightweight and has less quality as compared to Mehran in 1991 and 1992.
Hi guys I just buy this car vxr CNG Mehran I love the engine voice at starting time it got pretty groming lights and oh gosh Breaks are too lose like a Cycle, but some how car is good and trunk is good and matching bumper are also gr8.
Pak Suzuki Company is a big time scam. Through political pressure it won't allow any decent car to prevail in Pakistan. The cars have no quality control and they are very unsafe to drive. The engines and the body parts wear out very fast. Supreme court of Pakistan should hold an enquiry into this bull and enforce quality control. Because suzuki is involved in this dihonest practice, no asian is seen buying suzuki overseas. Where as Toyota is baught more often because of its reliability.
Shame on Suzuki.
Asalam-o-alaikum All
Hmm dear friends today on 31st October 2006 I was planning to buy car. I started research on cars and market. (I am an employee in an organization at Twin City) anyhow I went to different banks and enquired about Cars and Financing schemes etc…, at end I found that there is only one option for low salary employees to buy Suzuki Mehran whose current cost is Rs.345000/- On Amount for Quick retrieval + Markup + Insurance + Other Documentation Charges etc.. Which costs more than Rs.400,000+/- in this big amount a very poor quality car as my other friends wrote up a comprehensive and true, true story about this car. Then I started thinking that how much our government is sincere with us (Nation) no quality control no price check and balance a car which should cost in maximum Rs. 100,000/- is being sold out in more than Rs.40,000/- “Afsos” our people can only read about good quality cars in other countries. Companies pay a big amount to bureaucrats and they impose their own law about cars manufacturing etc... this is not fair!!! How hardly we earn money and get what nothing just garbage just time pass and wastage of money that’s y some time I think that I should leave this country because here there is no any humanity no pain about others …….. Sorry for this emotional writing, but believes me this is true. Anyways Suzuki Mehran is really not good or it is just initial satisfaction for those who see dreams about having their own cars. "the only option for Middle category people Suzuki Mehran and its variants"
Bye..
Hi this is Aleem. I have used a Suzuki FX 1988 for almost 16 ears and can safely say it was a total satisfaction driving that very nice car. Now I have decided to buy a Mehran which off course I have driven on many occasions and I feel that it is one of the best in that category of 800 CC cars. Only thing that needs improvement in that car are its uncomfortable seats. A plus for the customers can be installation of seat belts for all four. Price well! should be somewhat lower could be in the tune of 2,90,000 Rs. Suzukis are good investment if you have after sale in mind.
Hey I think its best car in its clas. Buy 90 model in just 80 thousand & just visit bilal ganj. spend 20 on paint&interior.10 on engine and you wil have better than new. Now calm down I have just visited showrom they are saying suzuki has expanded its factory & new mehran is arrieving with powver pack option.
Hi this is Aleem again. My new Mehran has just arrived from Pak Suzuki. It looks okay – would have been better if it came with a pre-installed deck . Interior is more than satisfactory. Handles alright! a little sluggish pickup due to CNG is a big minus. On the average this car gets a B plus 7 out of 10.
Suzuki MEHRAN is the most pathetic car ever they han`nt changed the shape since 1989 the quality has become even more pathetic the interior is made by some lota manufacturers buy a donkey cart instead of buying this pathetic good for nothing car even calling it a car is a shame the corrupt people of pakistan can give you nothing better pak-suzuki corrupt officials and pakistani corrupt beaureaucrats looting the poor customers SHAME ON PAK-SUZUKI MOTORS and also SHAME on SUZUKI JAPAN they should have stopped manufacturing suzuki in pakistan because such loww quality cars IT IS A SHAME sharam karo pak-suzuki kay logo sharam.
Pakistani awam stop complaining the corrupt pak-suzuki officials are not going to listen to you so stop buying the pathetic car yazid say pani mat mango!!
Pak-suzuki have made suzuki japan officials also corrupt if they were not corrupt then how could they not improve the quality of this pathetic car if they are satisfied with the quality then why don't they take it to japan and sell this pak-suzuki car in japan the japanese people are going to kill them for calling these things cars mehran, alto cultus look at the price and then the quality on these muslims of pak-suzuki motors sharam karo you call yourself muslims and then look at the quality of the product you sell to your pakistani customers shame on you!
